We know that new things are generally better; they come with more features and stronger durability. But is that the case with a Levoit Core 300, which is a new model with many advanced features? Will the advanced features help Core 300 take the win? Find out in the following text.
It is also worth mentioning that Core 300 is intended for a 219 sq. ft. room while LV-H132 is intended for smaller rooms up to 129 sq. ft. Difference in-room coverage can also mean a difference in performance, but we will check that in our test.

Features Overview
Both devices are ozone free and can be used in any room without any safety concerns. These devices are not equal when we look at the room coverage and their power. More about that read in our performance test section.
Control Panels
Levoit installed fluid and simple-to-use buttons on both devices. Core 300 has more buttons because it also has more features.
Timer
Sadly LV-H132 is not featuring a timer. Core 300 has a timer that allows you to program the air purifier to work for the desired period. After the working time is up, the air purifier will automatically shut down. This feature is a clear advantage for Core 300. If Levoit LV-H132 features a timer, it would be a much better device.
Sleep Mode
Only the Core 300 has a sleep mode. When turned on, sleep mode will reduce the fan speed, and you will barely notice that the air purifier is on.
Display Lock
When you have so many buttons to click, you need to protect them from accidental clicks. Display Lock is an excellent feature because settings can not be messed up even if you accidentally click buttons when this feature is on. As the name of the feature says, it is beneficial if you have kids around.
Night Light
Core 300 does not emit ambient light or night light. On the other hand, LV-H132 emits blue light that can be very handy in the bedroom. The light is not strong, and some people may find it calming and relaxing, which can help them get into a deep sleep faster.

Filtration Technology
Three in one filtration system is proven as a great way to keep the air in the room at a decent quality. Both of the contenders are using this method of filtration. Both air purifiers have a filter oval in shape. LV-H132 pre-filter is washable, and you can clean it when it is dirty. However, the Core 300 has a bigger filter and with more powerful airflow, gives better results. Because of that power, it is also recommended for a larger room than Levoit LV-H132.
How to Replace Filters on These Two?
Filters need to be replaced because True HEPA filters and activated carbon filters work best when replaced. Both Levoit models will notify you when the filter needs to be replaced. Usually, that’s between six and eight months. When you see the filter indicator giving the notification for filter replacement, you can start this simple task. If you have any concerns about it, check out airpurifierfirst.com or our YouTube channel for more details about it.
Noise Tests
Of course, the Core 300 produces more noise because it features a much stronger motor and higher airflow. On the third speed, the difference in noise is significant. Core 300 is loud on third speed, but when in sleep mode, you won’t hear it. The table below shows you the exact noise results for both air purifiers.
Product | Noise Range (dBA) |
---|---|
Levoit LV-H132 | 43.1 – 57.7 dBA |
Levoit Core 300 | 40.7 – 64.9 dBA |
Performance Tests
We have tested both air purifiers in a real-life environment to see which one will better filter the air. Since each of them has different characteristics, we needed to test them in different rooms.
194 sq. ft. Room Tests
We have tested both air purifiers in a 194 sq. ft. room. This room is slightly bigger than the recommended one for LV-H132. However, both air purifiers performed well in this room. But as obvious, Core 300 was much better in this test since it is meant for larger rooms. Core 300 improved air quality by 93% in one hour, while LV-H132 improved by 87%.
194 sq. ft. Room
* Data measuring time is 60 minutes.
Other Tests
Core 300 in 320 sq. ft. improved air quality by 92%. You must know that this room is much bigger than the recommended one for Core 300. Still, 92% of air quality improvement is a great result.
Levoit LV-H132 in 120 sq. ft. room improved air quality by 88%. This room is almost like the recommended one, and this result is also great. All tests were taken in 60 minutes.
Operation Costs
A 28W motor powers the LV-H132, which makes it a minimal power consumer. In a month of operation, the device will consume about $ 1.9 in electricity at third speed.
The Core 300 is powered by a 45W motor, a slightly larger consumer than the LV-H132. In a month of operation, at third gear, the device will cost you about $ 3.8, which is almost twice as much as the LV-H132.
Replacing the filter on the LV-H132 will also be slightly cheaper than on the Core 300. The bottom line is that the annual cost for the Core 300 is somewhat higher than for the LV-H132.
Which One Does It Better?
Both devices are designed for different room sizes. LV-H132 is intended for smaller rooms, up to 129 sq. Ft., while the Core 300 is designed for rooms up to 219 sq. ft. A vast number of people are in a dilemma about which of these two products to buy.
Looking at the maintenance costs and the price of the product, the choice would be LV-H132. However, in our test, the victory is taken by the Core 300, which has been proven to show better performance. The Core 300 features a modern, elegant, and comfortable design confirmed by the IF Award certificate.
Thank you so much for this beautiful review. I really learned a lot from this article. I am going to buy the core 300.
Thanks again!!
