Levoit is one of the leading brands in the air purifier market, and my extensive testing of nearly all their devices recently led me to review their latest model, the Vital 200S air purifier.
In this article, I will compare the Vital 200S with one of Levoit’s best-selling models, the Core 300S. These air purifiers don’t have much in common except for their high-quality filtration technology and the ability to connect with the VeSync smart app.
From a design perspective, the Vital 200S is rectangular, while the Core 300S features a cylindrical shape. Both devices have excellent build quality and durable plastic construction. The Vital 200S has carrying handles, which I particularly like as they make moving the device from room to room much easier.
In terms of coverage, the Levoit Vital 200S effectively cleans spaces of up to 380 sq. ft. (35 m²), making it ideal for large bedrooms, living rooms, or similar areas. In contrast, the Levoit Core 300S is better suited for smaller spaces up to 219 sq. ft. (20 m²), such as small bedrooms, offices, children’s rooms, and similar spaces.
Both models are ozone-free and 100% safe to use.
Our Verdict
We had two exceptional air purifiers in this comparison, both providing extraordinary performance with well-optimized motors, but with a few small differences that determined the winner.
I’m a huge fan of the Levoit Core 300S air purifier—it’s one of the best small air purifiers we’ve tested. However, for just a little extra investment, you can upgrade to a more powerful, newer, and overall outstanding air purifier: the Vital 200S.
The Levoit Vital 200S features larger filters, more carbon pellets in its filter, a higher CADR, and much better results in our smoke and particle removal tests. These are just some of the reasons I’d choose it over the Core 300S.
If you have any questions about these two Levoit models, feel free to ask in the comments section at the end of the article.

Performance Test – Comparison
In particle removal tests, we measure how much an air purifier improves air quality over 60 minutes while operating at maximum speed.
The key difference between these two devices is that the Levoit Vital 200S is significantly more powerful, which is why we tested them in rooms of different sizes.
The Vital 200S has a CADR of 245 CFM (416 m³/h), compared to the Core 300S, which has a CADR of 141 CFM (240 m³/h), which is almost two times smaller.
Particle Removal Tests - Comparison
We placed the Levoit Core 300S Vs Levoit Vital 200S in two separate tests and measured their performance using the Temtop laser particle meter.
Despite this difference, we tested both devices in a 320 sq. ft. (30 m²) room. In this test, the Levoit Vital 200S reduced PM2.5 particulate matter from 106 to 4.1 µg/m³, achieving an air quality improvement of approximately 96%.
On the other hand, the Levoit Core 300S, in the same room, reduced PM2.5 particulate matter from 106.3 to 6.7 µg/m³, improving air quality by 92%.
While both air purifiers produced outstanding results, the Levoit Vital 200S demonstrated superior performance. This is primarily due to its higher CADR, though its larger filters may have also contributed to its effectiveness.
Smoke Box Test – Comparison
Levoit air purifiers consistently rank among the best performers in our smoke tests, and these two models are no exception, especially the Vital 200S.
The Vital 200S removed all the smoke from the glass box in just 15 seconds, one of the best results among all the air purifiers we’ve tested.
On the contrary, the Levoit Core 300S was slightly slower but still performed exceptionally well, clearing all the smoke in 20 seconds.
Both devices produced outstanding results, but the Levoit Vital 200S was the clear winner in this test.
Noise Level Test – Comparison
Both air purifiers feature well-optimized motors and many fan speed settings. The Levoit Vital 200S includes five speeds, while the Core 300S has four.
Both models also have an auto mode, which adjusts the fan speed based on the current air quality in the room.
We measured their noise levels using a specialized noise measurement tool that records sound on the dBA scale.
Noise Levels - Comparison
Comparison of noise levels at all fan speeds between the Levoit Core 300S Vs Levoit Vital 200S air purifiers.
At the lowest speed, the Levoit Vital 200S produces a sound level of 41 dBA, while the Levoit Core 300S produces 41.4 dBA.
However, at maximum speed, the difference becomes more evident. The Levoit Vital 200S produces 62.2 dBA, making it significantly quieter than the Core 300S, which reaches 65.2 dBA.
Fan Speed | Levoit Core 300S (dBA) | Levoit Vital 200S (dBA) |
---|---|---|
Sleep Mode | 41.4 dBA | 41 dBA |
Speed 1 (Low) | 46.5 dBA | 44.4 dBA |
Speed 2 (Medium) | 54.6 dBA | 45.7 dBA |
Speed 3 (High) | 65.2 dBA | 57.9 dBA |
Speed 4 (Turbo) | - | 62.2 dBA |
After analyzing and comparing noise levels across all speeds, it’s clear that the Levoit Vital 200S is better optimized for noise and is overall quieter despite having a much more powerful motor.
Operating Costs – Comparison
Levoit consistently improves the energy efficiency of its air purifiers with each new release, and these two models are no exception, both being relatively low-power consumers.
The Levoit Core 300S is equipped with a 26W motor, while the Levoit Vital 200S uses a 50W motor.
If you were to run these air purifiers at their maximum speed for 24 hours a day over a month, your electricity bill would increase by approximately $4.22 for the Levoit Vital 200S and about $2.01 for the Core 300S.
Monthly Power Consumption Cost - Comparison
Comparison of monthly power consumption costs for the Levoit Core 300S Vs Levoit Vital 200S air purifiers at all fan speeds.
This is a significant difference, but it’s important to consider that the Levoit Vital 200S is a much more powerful air purifier with a higher CADR.
In addition to energy costs, you should also account for filter replacement costs, which are slightly higher for the Levoit Vital 200S. However, it uses a filter with a longer lifespan.
Fan Speed | Levoit Core 300S (W + $/month) | Levoit Vital 200S (W + $/month) |
---|---|---|
Standby | 1.1W ($0.09) | 1.4W ($0.12) |
Sleep Mode | 3.8W ($0.33) | 3.5W ($0.3) |
Speed 1 (Low) | 6W ($0.52) | 5.8W ($0.5) |
Speed 2 (Medium) | 10.4W ($0.91) | 7.9W ($0.69) |
Speed 3 (High) | 23W ($2.01) | 26.3W ($2.3) |
Speed 4 (Turbo) | - | 48.2W ($4.22) |
In summary, the Levoit Core 300S is more cost-effective in terms of annual maintenance, but the Levoit Vital 200S offers a better power-to-CADR ratio, making it a more efficient choice overall.
