Medify MA-15 Vs Medify MA-25 – Same or Not at All? (2023)

In this comparison, I will compare two air purifiers from Medify, the Medify MA-15, and Medify MA-25. They are two small, innovative, and exciting devices.

Almost identical design principles characterize these two air purifiers. Both devices use a dual filter placed on the sides and do not have many advanced features but are undoubtedly worth comparing.

Features Overview

When we compare the features that these two air purifiers have, there is simply no difference that I could single out because both devices have exactly the same features.

Medify Air MA-15 Vs Medify MA-25 Air Purifiers - Controls
Medify MA-15 and MA-25 have controls located on the top.

I like that both air purifiers have a filter reset indicator, which will notify you when it’s time to replace the old filters. Dimmer is also a useful option that allows you to dim all the indicators on the device.

Display lock is another useful option that adorns both devices and allows you to lock all the buttons on the device from accidental switching of preset commands. There’s also a timer option, which basically determines after how long you want the device to turn itself off. On both devices, the timer can be set to 1h, 2h, 4h, and 8h.

I have nothing more to say about the options because, as I mentioned earlier, the Medify MA-15 and MA-25 have identical options.

Airflow

Although their construction is almost identical, and both have dual filters located on the sides, their airflow is slightly different.

They draw air in through the openings on the sides, which is then filtered and exits through the grilles on top in the case of the Medify MA-15, and through the openings on the front in the case of the Medify MA-25.

Warranty

I have to commend the Medify company and especially emphasize the possibility of activating the lifetime warranty for these two devices.

All you need to do to activate the warranty is to subscribe to replacement filters directly on the Medify website.

Filtration Technology

Medify MA-15 and Medify MA-25 feature a dual filter, which is placed on the sides. Both devices use three-stage filtration technology consisting of a pre-filter, True HEPA filter, and activated carbon filter.

The only noticeable difference here is in the size of the filters. Medify MA-25 has slightly larger filters than MA-15.

In the image above, you can see the filters these air purifiers use.

As for the efficiency and reliability of the filter, I must say that I am very satisfied with both, which you will confirm in the performance tests that I will present later.

I would also like to praise that both devices use the True HEPA filter, which is the primary and definitely the most deserving stage of filtration on these two devices.

How to Replace Filters?

Neither of the two mentioned Medify air purifiers has a washable filter. This means that the filters are consumable and need to be changed periodically.

Unfortunately, the filters on Medify MA-15 and MA-25 last for only about 3-4 months. However, the good thing is that you don’t have to monitor when the filters need to be changed, as both devices use a filter reset indicator to let you know when to change the filters.

I have described the detailed process of replacing the filters for both devices in the individual reviews that you can find at the links below.

Noise Tests

Before I start talking about the noise levels, I will determine the number of speeds these air purifiers have.

Medify MA-25 and MA-15 use 3 fan speeds and have no sleep mode, but both devices are extremely quiet at the first speed. The MA-15 produces a sound of just 41.2 dBA on the first fan speed, while the MA-25 produces just 41.8 dBA on the first fan speed. I have to say that these air purifiers are much quieter at first speeds than some competing devices in sleep mode.

Product Noise Range (dBA)
Medify MA-15 41.2 – 61.1 dBA
Medify MA-25 41.8 – 64.0 dBA

However, both devices are a bit louder at max speeds, and I think it will be challenging for many users to stay in the same room while either of these two is running at max speed.

If we compare the noise levels at each speed separately, it is obvious that the Medify MA-15 is a quieter air purifier.

Performance Tests

Honestly, it is very challenging for me when I test similar air purifiers, which in addition, come from the same company.

I used a Temtop laser particle meter to test the performance of these air purifiers.

Medify MA-15 and MA-25 cover rooms of different dimensions and use identical filters but performed differently in performance tests.

Keep reading and find out whether the small MA-15 can handle a slightly larger MA-25 air purifier.

194 sq. ft. Room Tests

In the first test, in a room of 194 sq. ft., Medify MA-15 improved air quality by about 92% in 60 minutes of operation at max speed, while MA-25 improved air quality by about 94% in identical conditions.

To be honest, I am very positively surprised by the results of this test.

320 sq. ft. Room Tests

In the second test, this time in a room of 320 sq. ft., which is slightly more than the recommended dimensions for both devices, these two air purifiers also showed excellent performance.

In 60 minutes of operation, at max speed, the Medify MA-15 improved air quality by about 90%, while the Medify MA-25 was slightly better and improved air quality by about 91%.

As in the previous test, these air purifiers made terrific results, thus showing why they are among the best-selling and most reliable air purifiers on the market.

Operating Costs

There is not much difference when it comes to the power usage of these two devices. To begin with, I would like to emphasize that the Medify MA-15 uses a motor of only 25W, while the Medify MA-25 uses a slightly more powerful motor of only 28W.

If you let these two devices run at max speed, 24 hours a day, for a month, your electricity bill would be increased by about $ 2 in the case of Medify MA-15, and by about $ 2.3 in the case of Medify MA-25.

Product Wattage Range (W)
Medify MA-15 0.9 – 23.7W
Medify MA-25 0.1 – 26.3W

Although these Medify air purifiers are not very big consumers of electricity, I must say that I am a bit disappointed with the duration of the filters as well as with the price of replacement filters, which is without a doubt too high.

Still, if we put everything on paper, the Medify MA-15 is a little more maintenance-friendly than the Medify MA-25.

Which One Does It Better?

Since the Medify MA-15 and MA-25 are almost identical, with only a few design differences, I could easily determine this comparison as a draw. However, always do my best to choose the winner, even if the nuances are crucial, as is the case here.

In my opinion, Medify MA-15 would be a better choice to buy than Medify MA-25. The reason is that it is a little quieter at work, uses less power, and what I like most is that the MA-15 directs air upward instead of in front.

As I said before, this could easily have been a draw fight, so if you opt for Medify MA-25, you won’t go wrong.
