Full Review
In this review, I will test and evaluate the Medify Air MA-15 air purifier. Medify Air is a brand known for producing air purifiers of various sizes, power levels, and CADRs, typically offering well-built and highly efficient devices.
The Medify MA-15 was the first air purifier from this brand that we tested, but we later reviewed other models, including the Medify MA-25.
This compact air purifier has a CADR of 78 CFM (132 m³/h), making it ideal for rooms up to 138 sq. ft. (12.8 m²).
It features three-stage filtration technology consisting of a pre-filter, a True HEPA filter, and an activated carbon filter. However, there is also a version of the Medify MA-15 that includes UV-C light, adding a fourth stage of filtration.
We tested its performance, smoke-neutralization capabilities, noise levels, and power consumption while evaluating all its features to determine whether it is a worthwhile purchase.
How We Tested the Medify MA-15?
1. For the filter efficiency testing, we used the Temtop LKC-1000S laser particle meter, which measures PM2.5 (µg/m3), PM10 (µg/m3), Particles (per/L), and HCHO (mg/m3) in the air, and also calculates the AQI.
2. We placed the Medify MA-15 in two separate performance tests, one in a 194 sq. ft. (18 m²) room and the other in a 320 sq. ft. (30 m²) room. Then, we recorded the initial air quality values using the Temtop laser particle meter and let the Medify MA-15 run at maximum speed.
3. After 60 minutes, we measured the new values using the Temtop laser particle meter and saved the data.
4. Next, we placed the Medify MA-15 in a glass box, which we then filled with smoke. Then, we measured how much time was needed for the air purifier to remove all the smoke from the box.
5. Using a special noise measurement tool, we tested the air purifier’s noise level at all speeds. We measured the noise level on the dBA scale.
6. Finally, we measured the power usage at all speeds using an energy meter, after which we calculated how much it would cost to use the device at a particular fan speed for one month. For reference, we used an energy price of $0.12 per kWh.

The Medify Air MA-15 air purifier is a compact device with a well-optimized motor and a room coverage of up to 138 sq. ft. (12.8 m²).
One feature I particularly like about this air purifier is its dual filters—but how does that actually impact the efficiency of the Medify MA-15?
We tested its performance in a room of similar dimensions to the recommended one, but we also challenged it by testing it in a much larger room to see how it performed above its capacity.
Testing in a 194 sq. ft. (18 m²) Room
In the first test, performed in a 194 sq. ft. (18 m²) room, this air purifier delivered impressive results. In just 60 minutes, running at maximum speed, it improved air quality by 92%.
# | Starting Baseline | After 60 min |
---|---|---|
PM 2.5 | 98.9 µg/m³ | 7.6 µg/m³ |
PM 10 | 138.5 µg/m³ | 10.6 µg/m³ |
Particles | 143521 per/L | 11038 per/L |
AQI | 129 | 10 |
It successfully reduced PM2.5 particulate matter from 98.9 to 7.6 µg/m³.
In comparison, a few similar air purifiers have performed better in this test. For example, the Coway Airmega 100 improved air quality under the same conditions by 93%, but it also has a slightly higher CADR than the Medify MA-15.
Particle Removal Test Room - Comparison
Comparison between the Medify MA-15 and its competitors in particle removal tests in a 194 sq. ft. (18 m²) room.
Overall, I can only say that Medify passed this test successfully.
Testing in a 320 sq. ft. (30 m²) Room
In the second test, performed in a room significantly larger than the recommended size, the Medify MA-15 also produced outstanding results.
# | Starting Baseline | After 60 min |
---|---|---|
PM 2.5 | 96.8 µg/m³ | 10 µg/m³ |
PM 10 | 135.5 µg/m³ | 14.1 µg/m³ |
Particles | 140366 per/L | 14604 per/L |
AQI | 127 | 13 |
Running at maximum speed for 60 minutes, the Medify MA-15 improved air quality by 90%.
This is an impressive outcome and further confirms the strong performance of this air purifier.
Performance – Smoke Removal Test
Yes, the Medify MA-15 has dual filters, but it lacks a high concentration of carbon pellets and a sufficiently high CADR to achieve outstanding results in this test.
Despite these limitations, it successfully removed all the smoke from the glass box in 32 seconds, which is a very good result given the factors mentioned above.
Smoke Box Test - Comparison
In this chart, you can see how quickly the Medify MA-15 removes smoke from a glass box compared to its competitors.
When compared to the competition (see the chart), the Medify MA-15 ranks quite well. For instance, the Levoit Core 200S also took 32 seconds to clear the smoke under the same conditions.
Overall, while not exceptional, the Medify MA-15 made a very solid result in this test.
Noise Levels Test
Noise – Sound Level Tests:
9.3 - Average Score (80 products)

The Medify MA-15 has a relatively well-optimized motor for noise control, but it has only three fan speeds. I believe adding at least one additional speed would further improve noise optimization.
At its highest setting (third speed), this air purifier delivers maximum airflow but also reaches its loudest noise level, measuring 61.1 dBA—which is higher than some competing models at their maximum speeds.
Noise Levels Test - Comparison
This chart compares the noise levels at the minimum and maximum speeds of the Medify MA-15 air purifier with those of its competitors.
For example, the Philips 600i Series produces just 57.3 dBA at its highest speed.
However, at its lowest speed, the situation is quite the opposite. The Medify MA-15 produces only 41.2 dBA, making it one of the quieter models in its class.
While I would have liked to see a sleep mode feature, the inclusion of a light dimmer and its very quiet low-speed setting effectively replicate that functionality.
Fan Speed | Medify MA-15 (dBA) |
---|---|
Speed 1 (Low) | 41.2 dBA |
Speed 2 (Medium) | 47.1 dBA |
Speed 3 (High) | 61.1 dBA |
Overall, the Medify MA-15 is well-optimized for noise, though it could be quieter at its highest speed.
This air purifier operates with a 25W motor and includes an AC adapter.
While I’ve seen air purifiers with similar wattage but higher CADR values, I’d still say that the Medify MA-15 has a reasonable power-to-CADR ratio.
Running the Medify MA-15 continuously at maximum speed for 24 hours a day over a month would cost you approximately $2.08 in electricity. For comparison, the Winix A231, a similarly sized competitor, would cost you about $3.56 under the same conditions.
Monthly Power Cost – Comparison
Comparison of the monthly power cost at maximum speed between the Medify MA-15 and some of its competitors.
That said, you likely won’t use the device at maximum speed all the time, meaning your actual electricity costs will be even lower.
The main issue with the operating costs of the Medify MA-15 isn’t its energy consumption but rather the high price of replacement filters. Another concern is that these filters need to be replaced approximately every 3–4 months.
Fan Speed | Medify MA-15 (W + $/month) |
---|---|
Standby | 0.9W ($0.08) |
Speed 1 (Low) | 2.2W ($0.19) |
Speed 2 (Medium) | 5.3W ($0.46) |
Speed 3 (High) | 23.7W ($2.08) |
While the MA-15 isn’t a significant energy consumer, the combination of expensive filters and frequent replacements results in slightly higher overall maintenance costs on an annual basis.
Design
Medify MA-15 is a small, compact air purifier, rectangular in shape.
It is available in silver and white color. For this review, I bought a device in silver because it is unusual, unusual, and in my opinion, more beautiful than the model in white color.
The device I am testing is entirely silver, except for the frame on the upper side, which is black. I don’t like that on some parts of the device, you can see traces of paint underneath. The device is not very well painted in silver color. For example, the Smartmi P1 that I recently tested is also available in silver, but the color is much better; the difference is very noticeable.
In my opinion, it would be good if the designers installed handles for easier carrying. Still, since this is not a giant air purifier, you probably won’t have any problems transporting it from room to room. The plastic is not top quality, but that is not a big deal.
All in all, this air purifier is one very lovely device, which will fit into almost any ambiance. It will fit nicely on a desk, dresser, nightstand in the bedroom, or in a similar location.
Control Buttons
The device control buttons are located on the top. Touch buttons are well responsive even on the slightest pressure. Each time you press the button, you will hear a beep.
In my opinion, the buttons are kind of small, so sometimes it happens that I don’t press the correct button.
There are Child-Lock, Timer, On / Off, Speed , and Dimmer button on the button bar.
Airflow
The MA-15 has openings on the sides. The device draws in air through these openings, which is then filtered and exits through the openings on the upper side. The device draws air through openings on the sides because the two filters it uses are arranged there.
When placing the device in the desired location, be sure to move it at least 6 inches away from the wall or other objects.
Size and dimensions
The Medify MA-15 air purifier weighs 5.8 lb. The low weight allows you to move the air purifier from one location to another without a problem. The dimensions of the device are 8.9 x 8.9 x 14.6 inches.
What’s in the box?
When you buy the device, you get Medify Air MA-15,1x AC Power Adapter, True HEPA Filters, and a User manual.
Packaging is standard cardboard packaging. The filters are immediately inserted into the device. However, it is necessary to remove the plastic bag and reinstall them before the first start.
Features Overview
The Medify Air MA-15 has a “Timer” as an optional extra option. The timer can be set to 1x, 2x, 4x, or 8x hours. This is a valuable option if you need to set the device to turn off after a certain amount of time.
Child Lock
This is also a handy option, especially if you have a small child.
Namely, after the Child-Lock is activated, the air purifier will not react to any button’s pressure.
Holding your finger on the Child-Lock button for 3s will activate it. Likewise, a 3s re-hold will deactivate it.
Dimmer
Press the Dimmer button to change the backlight to a certain brightness.
There are 4 brightness levels to choose from. Each time you press the Dimmer button, the level changes. Also, in addition to the 4 lighting levels, it is possible to completely dim the lights on the buttons. All you have to do is keep pressing the Dimmer button until all lights are off.
Filter Replacement Indicator
This is one of my favorite options that an air purifier can have. The filter replacement indicator makes it much easier to use the device by notifying you when it is time to replace the filter. This way, you don’t have to manually track when it’s time to replace filters, but you can entirely rely on the indicator.
Room Coverage and CADR
Medify MA-15 is a slightly smaller device, but it has excellent performance thanks to a powerful motor. MA-15 is designed for rooms up to 138 sq. ft. (12.8 m²). This device will clean the air in a room of 165 sq. ft. in just 15 min, while in a room of 330 sq. ft. the air is clean in about 30min.
These are laboratory results listed by the manufacturer. However, users will not always use the device in ideal conditions, so I suggest you keep on reading the Medify MA-15 review, where I will write more about the performance and other tests I did on this outstanding air purifier.
Filtration Technology
Medify Air MA-15 uses 3 stage filtration. The device uses two identical filters, which are placed on both sides. You can find this identical filtration principle on the Levoit LV-H128 model, which I had the opportunity to test recently. What I really like about MA-15 is that it uses a True HEPA filter.
Medify Air MA-15 Replacement Filters
Always buy genuine filters for the best performance. As soon as the filter reset indicator is on, you are ready to change filters. Do it as quickly as possible.
Check Filter Price On AmazonPre-filter
The first stage of filtration in the MA-15 is the pre-filter. It is a nylon mesh attached to a True HEPA filter. Its purpose is to capture large particles and thus extend the life of the HEPA filter.
This pre-filter type is very common in Levoit models such as the Core 300, where the pre-filter is also attached to the HEPA filter.
True HEPA H13 Filter
The second stage of filtration is the True HEPA filter. This filter has the power to remove up to 99.9% of airborne particles as small as 0.1 microns, such as allergens, pollen, dust, germs, pet dander, odor, mold spores, and smoke from the air that passes through the filter.
I really like that the MA-15 uses a True HEPA filter, as many devices on the market do not have True HEPA filters.
Carbon Odor Filter
The third stage of filtration is the carbon filter. Its purpose is to eliminate household odors and VOCs (volatile organic compounds) gases as shown by independent laboratory testing.
Medify MA-15 uses carbon pellets. However, the amount of pellets in the filter is very small, and they are not densely arranged at all. I don’t like that at all, and I think that’s why the gas filtration is a bit weaker with this device.
The MA-15 would be a much more complete and better device if it had a carbon filter in line with the quality of True HEPA filters.
How to Replace Medify Air MA-15 Filters?
The filters on the MA-15 are not washable, so they need to be changed at a certain time. With this model, the filter will last about 2500 hours, approximately 3-4 months.
The good thing is that the Medify MA-15 has a built-in filter replacement indicator, which will notify you when it’s time to replace the filter. Besides, I would recommend that you clean the inside of the device at least once a month and remove the dirt accumulated on the pre-filter.
Total time: 10 minutes.
Step 1
Unplug the air purifier. Remove filter cover on both sides by pushing the lockers on top of the cover.
Step 2
Once you see the filter pull the tabs to remove it.
Step 3
Before installing a new filter, you can use a vacuum cleaner on the insides of the air purifier to remove any accumulated dust. A new filter needs to be installed with the white side facing out.
Step 4
Put back the filter cover and seal it well.
Step 5
Plug the device, start it and reset the filter indicator by pressing and holding the Dimmer button for 3 seconds.
Medify Air Warranty and Customer Service
At first glance, the lifetime warranty offered by Medify Air is very tempting and sounds just amazing. However, I don’t like that this warranty is conditioned in some way. To be valid, the manufacturer “forces” you to change the filters every three months and always use original filters, which are not cheap at all.
Also, 30 days from the product’s purchase, you need to register it on their webshop and thus start your warranty. My recommendation is to read the warranty agreement and, therefore, better understand how the Medify Air warranty works.
In addition to the warranty, customer support, and the way the company treats customers are very important. I tested the support via email and via the Facebook page. I am satisfied with the speed of response I received through both channels.
FAQ on Medify MA-15
Does Medify Air MA-15 produce ozone?
No. Medify MA-15 does not use an Ionizer, UV-C, or any other form of filtration that could produce ozone. The device is entirely safe to use.
How long is the warranty on the Medify MA-15?
Medify offers a lifetime warranty on this device. However, the warranty is subject to regular filter replacement.
How often should the filters be changed?
The manufacturer recommends that you change the filters on average between 3-4 months.
In which rooms is it best to use this device?
This is a small but strong device, so you can use it in any room up to 138 sq. ft. (12.8 m²), even in somewhat larger rooms. My recommendation is not to use it in rooms where there is a lot of smoking because the carbon filter is not that powerful.
Hello. I have this model ma-15, but I have the one with the UV button. I’m trying to find information if that’s a good thing on the air purifier. I don’t know if I should keep it on or not.
That’s a different version with the addition of UV-C light. You could turn it on if you want to slightly enhance filtration efficiency.
Thank you for your very helpful and informative review of medify ma 15 air purifier. I have this model but can’t find the Filter Replacement Indicator. Will you please tell me where it is located? I’ve had this for over 5 months but the warning red light never appears and I can’t find it anywhere on this model.
Hi, thanks for your kind words.
When it is time to replace the filter, the filter reset indicator will show up behind the dimmer button. It looks like two little filters and glows in red when active. Filters on Medify MA-15 last approx 2500 hours, so maybe it’s not time to change them yet.
