Levoit Core P350 Air Purifier: Is It Good for Pets?

The Levoit Core P350 is an air purifier based on the legendary Levoit Core 300 model, with the key difference being that the Core P350 uses a slightly different filter and is primarily designed for pet owners.

What’s notable about this model is that it is almost identical to its predecessor. In fact, if you were to place the filter from the Core P350 into the Core 300, you would essentially have two identical air purifiers.

The main difference lies in the filter: the Levoit Core P350 features a slightly denser pre-filter and a much higher-quality carbon filter with more carbon pellets inside.

How We Tested the Levoit Core P350?

1. For the filter efficiency testing, we used the Temtop LKC-1000S laser particle meter, which measures PM2.5 (µg/m3), PM10 (µg/m3), Particles (per/L), and HCHO (mg/m3) in the air, and also calculates the AQI.

2. We placed the Levoit Core P350 in a 194 sq. ft. (18 m²) room. Then, we recorded the initial air quality values using the Temtop laser particle meter and let the Levoit Core P350 run at maximum speed.

3. After 60 minutes, we measured the new values using the Temtop laser particle meter and saved the data.

4. Next, we placed the Levoit Core P350 in a glass box, which we then filled with smoke. Then, we measured how much time was needed for the air purifier to remove all the smoke from the box.

5. Using a special noise measurement tool, we tested the air purifier’s noise level at all speeds. We measured the noise level on the dBA scale.

6. Finally, we measured the power usage at all speeds using an energy meter, after which we calculated how much it would cost to use the device at a particular fan speed for one month. For reference, we used an energy price of $0.12 per kWh.

The first thing I always consider before analyzing an air purifier’s performance is the CADR value and room coverage.

The Levoit Core P350 has a CADR of 141 CFM (240 m³/h), which means it covers rooms of up to 219 sq. ft. (20 m²) and will clean the air 4.8 times per hour in a room of this size.

Based on its CADR, we tested it in a room with similar dimensions to the recommended size. Additionally, I used the Core P350 in my own space for a while to evaluate its performance in handling bad odors.

Overall, it performed well, comparable to other small Levoit models in the Core series. I’m quite satisfied with its ability to capture airborne particles, and it’s also very effective at neutralizing unpleasant odors, thanks to its much-improved activated carbon filter.

Testing in a 194 sq. ft. (18 m²) Room

We placed the Levoit Core P350 in a 194 sq. ft. (18 m²) room and ran it at its maximum speed for 60 minutes.

After that time, the Core P350 reduced the PM2.5 particulate matter from 103.9 to 6.9 µg/m³, resulting in an air quality improvement of 93%.

Compared to similar air purifiers (see the chart below), it delivered outstanding results in this test. The performance is comparable to the Philips 800, and even slightly better than the Shark HP102, which improved air quality by 92%.

Further comparison shows that some newer Levoit models performed better than the Core P350. For instance, the Levoit Vital 100S improved air quality by 95% in this test.

Overall, I’m satisfied with the results achieved by the Levoit Core P350 in our particle removal test.

The first thing I want to clarify when speaking of noise levels is that the Levoit Core P350 has four fan speeds.

It uses a well-optimized motor for noise reduction and produces only 42.1 dBA at its lowest speed (sleep mode). While this is a very good result, it’s not the best in its class. For example, the Levoit Vital 100S, which has the same CADR as the Core P350, produces only 40.5 dBA at its lowest speed.

At maximum speed, the result is even more impressive, especially when compared to similar air purifiers. The Core P350 produces only 57.2 dBA at its highest speed, making it one of the quietest air purifiers in its class at maximum fan speed.

Overall, the Levoit Core P350 is a device I would feel comfortable using in my bedroom, living room, or any other room where a quiet device is needed, but only if the room is within the recommended dimensions.

The Levoit Core P350 uses a 45W motor, the same as its predecessor, the Levoit Core 300.

However, this model performed much better in our power consumption tests, proving to be a more energy-efficient device than the Core 300.

At maximum speed, it uses 32.8W, which would cost about $2.88 if used continuously at maximum speed for 24 hours a day over a month.

The Levoit Core 300 would cost $3.81 under the same conditions, while the Core 300S would cost $2.01.

Overall, the Levoit Core P350 isn’t the largest power consumer.

However, in addition to power consumption, you also need to consider the cost of replacement filters, which are slightly more expensive for this air purifier compared to similar models.

Taking all this into account, we can conclude that while the Levoit Core P350 may not be the most affordable in terms of maintenance, it’s generally cheaper to maintain than many similar air purifiers in its class.

Filtration Technology

Recently, Levoit removed the “True HEPA” title from its marketing materials. This suggests that Levoit air purifiers no longer use True HEPA filters.

However, I can’t ignore many tests performed on Levoit air purifiers, which consistently show excellent, and often the best, results in their class.

Even though Levoit no longer claims its air purifiers use True HEPA filters, I don’t believe this is a deal breaker.

The Core P350 features traditional three-stage filtration technology, which is a hallmark of nearly all Levoit air purifiers.

Pre-filter

The pre-filter is the first stage of filtration and functions as a crucial layer of protection.

This filter has been improved and is more efficient than those found on other models in the Core series.

Its primary purpose is to capture large particles such as dust, pet hair, human hair, and other sizable debris.

By doing so, it helps extend the life of the other filters and enhances the overall efficiency of the device.

Particle Filter

The main stage of filtration is the particle filter, which captures airborne particles such as dust, mold, pollen, smoke, and similar contaminants.

It captures particles as small as 0.3 microns, meaning it can trap particles that are invisible to the naked eye.

The most crucial filtration layer—and the one that helped the Levoit Core P350 achieve excellent results in our performance tests—is the particle filter.

Activated Carbon Filter

The final stage of filtration, the activated carbon filter, is the primary layer for removing odors, smoke, VOCs, and similar pollutants from the air.

What’s notable about this filter is that it’s pellet-based and contains more carbon pellets than the filters in the Levoit Core 300 and 300S models.

This is why Levoit recommends the Core P350 for homes with pets. The more carbon pellets, the more odors it can absorb, which means fewer pet odors in the air.

How to Replace the Levoit Core P350 Filter?

The filters on the Levoit Core P350 are neither permanent nor washable, so they need to be replaced periodically.

This is typically every six to eight months, but the exact time depends on how often and in what conditions you use your air purifier.

The good news is that you don’t need to keep track of when to replace the filter; the Core P350 has a filter reset indicator that will notify you when it’s time for a replacement.

Setup and Installation

The Levoit Core P350 requires simple preparation before its first use.

Many viewers have commented after watching our videos that they forgot to follow these steps, which could potentially damage the air purifier.

All you need to do is open the bottom cover of the device, remove the filter, unpack it from the plastic wrap, and place it back into the device.

The next step is to find the best spot in your home for your new device, place it there, plug it in, and turn it on.

When positioning your device, be sure not to block the airflow openings, as this won’t only reduce performance but could also damage the motor.

Design

Regarding the design, the first thing I want to highlight is the Levoit Core P350’s high-quality build.

It’s a well-built air purifier made from durable plastic and is visually appealing.

Its cylindrical shape allows it to blend easily into almost any environment.

The device is constructed in two parts: the lower part, where the air inlets and filter are located, and the upper part, which houses the motor and control display.

Controls and Indicators

At the top of the device is a control panel with touch buttons and LED indicators.

On the control panel, you’ll find buttons for power, timer, fan speed, sleep mode, pet-proof lock, check filter indicator, and display off.

All these buttons also function as LED indicators when active, and there are separate indicators for the timer and the current fan speed setting.

It would be much more convenient to control this air purifier if it came with a remote control or, even better, if it worked with the VeSync app.

Airflow

This is a cylindrical air purifier with air inlets located on the bottom part of the device.

It draws air through these inlets, which is then filtered through the three-stage filtration system and exits through the fan grilles at the top.

Size and Dimensions

This air purifier weighs 7.5 lb (3.4 kg) and has dimensions of 8.7 x 8.7 x 14.2 inches (22 x 22 x 36 cm).

It doesn’t have a carrying handle, but it’s lightweight and compact enough that moving it from room to room shouldn’t be an issue.

Features Overview

The Levoit Core P350 doesn’t have smart features like an air quality sensor, auto mode, or a smart app, but it does include some useful features that can enhance your daily use of the air purifier.

Sleep Mode

What I especially like about this model is that its sleep mode is truly a sleep mode.

When you switch the air purifier to sleep mode, the fan speed is reduced to the lowest possible level, and all the display indicators are turned off.

I’ve often encountered air purifiers where sleep mode only dims the LED indicators without actually reducing the fan speed.

Timer

When an air purifier doesn’t have a smart app, features like a timer become very valuable.

The timer allows you to set it for 2, 4, 6, or 8 hours, after which the device will automatically turn off.

This is especially useful when you want the air purifier to run for a specific duration or if you’d like to “schedule” it for more controlled use.

Display Off

This is a convenient feature that lets you dim all the LED indicators on the display with just one press.

Pet Proof

The pet-proof feature is similar to the display lock found on many air purifiers.

When activated, it prevents any changes to the device’s settings until the feature is turned off.

To lock or unlock the device, press the pet-proof button for 3 seconds.

Warranty

The Levoit Core P350 comes with a 2-year warranty.

To extend your warranty to two years, simply register your air purifier on the Levoit website. Otherwise, the warranty will be limited to one year.
