Levoit Vital 100S Vs Xiaomi 4 Lite – Hands-on Comparison

The Levoit Vital 100S and Xiaomi 4 Lite are smart air purifiers with excellent performance and well-optimized motors. But which one is better?

Levoit and Xiaomi are huge competitors, especially in the EU market. This time, I will compare the Levoit Vital 100S and the Xiaomi 4 Lite.

These two air purifiers stand out for their exceptional performance. Both models excelled in our tests, feature well-optimized motors, and offer plenty of smart features.

The Levoit Vital 100S has a CADR of 141 CFM (240 m³/h), making it ideal for rooms up to 219 sq. ft. (20 m²). On the other hand, the Xiaomi 4 Lite has a higher CADR of 212 CFM (360 m³/h), covering spaces of up to 330 sq. ft. (31 m²).

Both air purifiers purify the air 4.8 times per hour in their recommended room sizes.

In this comparison, I analyzed their performance, noise levels, power consumption, and key specifications to help you decide which one is the better buying option.

In summary, the Levoit Vital 100S and Xiaomi 4 Lite are both well-performing air purifiers that I would recommend to anyone seeking a reliable, smart, and efficient device.

For this comparison, I’ve picked the Xiaomi 4 Lite as the better buying option over the Levoit Vital 100S. However, that doesn’t mean the Levoit is a bad choice; it’s just that the Xiaomi offers a bit more in terms of features and performance.

The Xiaomi 4 Lite has a higher CADR, larger filter, quieter operation, and superior performance in our tests.

Performance Test – Comparison

Regarding room coverage, we tested both air purifiers in rooms with dimensions similar to their recommended sizes.

Although they are designed for different room sizes — with the Xiaomi 4 Lite being slightly more powerful — we tested both devices in a 320 sq. ft. (30 m²) room.

During this test, each purifier operated at maximum speed for 60 minutes. The Levoit Vital 100S successfully reduced PM2.5 particulate matter from 107.6 to 6.4 µg/m³, resulting in an air quality improvement of approximately 94%.

On the other hand, the Xiaomi 4 Lite delivered slightly better results, improving air quality by 95% under the same conditions.

Particle Removal Tests - Comparison

We placed the Levoit Vital 100S Vs Xiaomi 4 Lite in two separate tests and measured their performance using the Temtop laser particle meter.

Although the test room was slightly larger than the recommended size for the Levoit Vital 100S, it still achieved impressive results.

Overall, both air purifiers demonstrated outstanding performance in removing airborne particles. Additionally, they were both effective at neutralizing light unpleasant odors.

While both devices performed exceptionally well, I would give the Xiaomi 4 Lite a slight advantage, primarily due to its higher CADR and larger filter media.

Noise Level Test – Comparison

As I’ve mentioned many times, it’s almost impossible to outperform the Xiaomi 4 Lite in noise level tests, primarily because it features fifteen fan speeds.

In contrast, the Levoit Vital 100S offers only five fan speeds.

For this comparison, I focused on measuring noise levels at the lowest and maximum speeds, as comparing all fan speeds side-by-side was impossible.

Noise Level Comparison

Comparing the Levoit Vital 100S and Xiaomi 4 Lite noise levels at minimum and maximum speeds.

At the lowest speed, the Xiaomi 4 Lite produces a sound of 40.1 dBA, while the Levoit Vital 100S is slightly louder at 40.5 dBA.

At maximum speed, the Xiaomi 4 Lite once again shows its superiority, generating 61.6 dBA, whereas the Levoit Vital 100S produces 65.4 dBA.

Overall, the Xiaomi 4 Lite not only offers significantly more fan speed options but is also quieter at both the lowest and maximum fan speeds.

Operating Costs – Comparison

Regarding power usage, the first thing I noticed is that the Xiaomi 4 Lite uses a much better-optimized motor, even though it has a higher CADR.

It uses a 33W motor, while the Levoit Vital 100S uses a 34W motor.

If you were to run both air purifiers at maximum speed, 24 hours a day, for an entire month, your electricity bill would increase by approximately $2.66 for the Levoit and about $3.25 for the Xiaomi.

This result is somewhat surprising, especially considering that the Xiaomi uses a slightly less powerful motor.

Power Usage Comparison

Comparing the Levoit Vital 100S and Xiaomi 4 Lite power use at minimum and maximum speeds.

In addition to power consumption costs, there’s also the cost of replacement filters. The Xiaomi’s filter needs to be replaced approximately every 12 months, while the Levoit’s filter requires replacement every 9 to 12 months.

While the replacement filter for the Levoit Vital 100S is a bit cheaper, the Xiaomi 4 Lite’s filter is larger, lasts longer, and offers better overall value.

With a longer-lasting and larger filter and better power-to-CADR optimization, the Xiaomi 4 Lite is more affordable to maintain in the long run.
