What makes this comparison interesting is that the Xiaomi 4 Lite is one of the best Xiaomi air purifiers we have tested, and the same applies to the Levoit Vital 200S—it is the best Levoit air purifier we have tested.
Both air purifiers come with many advanced features; they are compatible with smart apps and include an air quality sensor, an air quality indicator, and an auto mode.
Additionally, their CADR values are quite similar. The Xiaomi 4 Lite has a CADR of 212 CFM (360 m³/h), while the Levoit Vital 200S has a CADR of 245 CFM (416 m³/h).
Each model has its own strengths and weaknesses, but most importantly, we have thoroughly tested them, compared the results, and determined which one offers the better value for money.
Our Verdict
After analyzing their specifications and test results, I believe the Levoit Vital 200S is the better option to buy.
It performed slightly better in our tests, has a higher CADR, uses a more advanced smart app, and features a better filter. Additionally, there are plenty of third-party filter options available.
The Xiaomi 4 Lite isn’t a bad choice, but I believe the Levoit has much more to offer. It’s an especially better option in the US, where Xiaomi faces issues with replacement filter availability.

Performance Test – Comparison
The fact that these two devices cover rooms of very similar sizes led us to test them in two rooms with identical dimensions.
The Xiaomi 4 Lite is designed for spaces up to 330 sq. ft. (31 m²), while the Levoit Vital 200S covers slightly larger rooms, up to 380 sq. ft. (35 m²).
Based on their recommended coverage, we tested both devices in two different rooms.
Particle Removal Tests - Comparison
We placed the Xiaomi 4 Lite Vs Levoit Vital 200S in two separate tests and measured their performance using the Temtop laser particle meter.
In the first test, performed in a room of 320 sq. ft. (30 m²), the Xiaomi 4 Lite improved air quality by approximately 95%, while the Levoit Vital 200S achieved an improvement of around 96%.
Both devices operated at maximum speed throughout the entire 60-minute test.
In the second test, performed in a larger room of 560 sq. ft. (52 m²), the performance difference remained consistent with the previous test. The Xiaomi 4 Lite improved air quality by about 90%, whereas the Levoit Vital 200S achieved an improvement of approximately 92%.
Overall, we can easily conclude that the Levoit Vital 200S delivered better results in the performance test. Additionally, it is worth noting that it was slightly more effective at eliminating bad odors.
Smoke Box Test – Comparison
Even though the Levoit has a higher CADR, it also features a higher-density filter, which I believe is why it was one second slower than the Xiaomi.
The Levoit took 15 seconds to remove all the smoke from the glass box, whereas the Xiaomi 4 Lite accomplished the task in 14 seconds.
While the Xiaomi was slightly faster, both devices performed exceptionally well and delivered outstanding results in our smoke test.
Noise Level Test – Comparison
I’ve mentioned many times that the Xiaomi 4 Lite is incredibly difficult to beat in a noise test, primarily because it boasts an impressive 15 fan speeds.
However, when comparing noise levels at only the lowest and maximum speeds, the difference isn’t too significant, and both the Levoit and Xiaomi are very quiet devices.
Noise Level Comparison
Comparing the Xiaomi 4 Lite Vs Levoit Core 400S noise levels at minimum and maximum speeds.
At the lowest speed, the Levoit Vital 200S produces a noise level of 41.0 dBA, while the Xiaomi 4 Lite is slightly quieter at 40.1 dBA.
At maximum speed, the results are similarly close, with the Levoit Vital 200S producing 62.2 dBA and the Xiaomi 4 Lite producing 61.6 dBA.
Overall, while the Xiaomi 4 Lite’s 15 fan speeds are impressive, it’s important to note that they can only be controlled through the smart app.
In conclusion, when considering all factors, the Xiaomi 4 Lite is a better-optimized and quieter air purifier.
Operating Costs – Comparison
When it comes to operating costs, the first thing I almost always compare is motor power.
The Xiaomi 4 Lite features a highly optimized motor with an impressive 33W, while the Levoit Vital 200S operates with a 50W motor.
Power Usage Comparison
Comparing the Xiaomi 4 Lite Vs Levoit Core 400S power use at minimum and maximum speeds.
Although the Levoit Vital 200S has a higher CADR, the difference in electricity consumption is larger than I initially expected.
If both air purifiers were used 24 hours a day at maximum speed for an entire month, the electricity cost would increase by approximately $3.25 for the Xiaomi and around $4.22 for the Levoit.
Additionally, replacement filters for the Levoit are much easier to find and buy compared to Xiaomi, especially in the US. On top of that, Levoit filters are slightly more affordable, with plenty of third-party options available at lower prices.
All in all, the Levoit Vital 200S is better optimized for long-term maintenance and easier to manage on an annual basis compared to the Xiaomi 4 Lite.
I just bought a Levoit Vital 200S-P. Have only used it 2 days. Why does the air quality indicator light keep changing? It seems to go through all the colours every now and then, then stay on blue. Then it does it again after awhile.
Please help!
Hmm, do you possibly have a source of pollution that you aren’t aware of?
The air quality indicator may show low air quality if you’re cooking, if you opened a window and the outdoor air is polluted, if you just came inside, if you have a pet that passes near the sensor from time to time, etc.
