Levoit LV-H132 Vs Blueair 411 – Which Will Make the Cut?

Choosing the right air purifier isn't easy. Can the compact Levoit LV-H132 outperform the minimalistic Blueair 411?

Thanks to a sophisticated and impeccable design, great performances, and an excellent price-value ratio, Levoit is one of the most popular air purifier brands on the market.

On the other hand, Blueair is also a well-known and established name in the industry, known as the Swedish attempt to make the world’s best air purifier. It’s not an easy task to pick one, you would say.

Levoit LV-H132 and Blueair Blue Pure 411 are frequently compared air purifiers. Surprisingly, this is not only because of the similar features but also because of similar prices and popularity.

Levoit LV-H132 is intended for rooms up to 129 sq. ft., while Blueair Blue Pure 411 covers rooms up to 161 sq. ft.

These models do not have any advanced features that could be especially emphasized. However, Blueair, for example, has a washable pre-filter that makes it stand out from the Levoit LV-H132.

Blueair 411 has a white-colored top, while the body color is totally up to your choice among the five different pre-filter colors available. Levoit LV-H132 comes only in black and white color. In my opinion, Blueair is a much more aesthetically pleasing device, abundant in elegance and minimalism.

Both devices are very reliable and well-built. Blueair and Levoit are serious companies that have excellent customer support if needed. They both come with a 2-year warranty, whereas Levoit requires an additional online registration in order to activate or extend the warranty

Despite Blue Air 411 being a bit larger dimensionally, it doesn’t automatically imply that it is a better choice to buy. In the following comparison, I will present you with all of their advantages and disadvantages and then compare them in order for you to decide which one is better to get for yourself. Keep reading to find out which one will suit your needs and expectations.

Features Overview

Neither of these models has any advanced features that I would especially single out as compelling.

Both of them have no smart sensor or the ability to connect to a mobile app, let alone any progressive features that some state-of-the-art purifiers have.

However, Blueair has an improved version of the 411, namely the Blueair 411 Auto. The important difference between the older and newer versions is the addition of Smart Sensor and Auto Mode options, suited for users with modern preferences. Decide for yourself if the newer model is a bargain that is well worth your money.

Levoit LV-H132 and Blueair 411 come with the Filter Reset indicator, designed to notify you that you should change the filter when the time is right. This feature is extremely beneficial because you can let go of the worry about being late for the filter replacement.

Also, it is crucial to note that you should make sure that the pre-filter is not too dirty and clean it at least once per month.

Night Light

If you’re not quite a fan of complete darkness in your living space at night, a night light is definitely a feature that would come in handy. Levoit LV-H132 has a blue light indicator that lights up when the device is on. It has three brightness levels – dim, bright, and off

The light is extremely plausible and gentle for your eyes, especially if you are about to use the purifier in your bedroom.

Unfortunately, Blueair 411 comes completely without this option.

Washable Pre-filter

You might be thinking that Blueair 411 is pretty much behind the Levoit LV-H132 up to this moment, but you’re in for a surprise when it comes to washable pre-filter – Levoit LV-H132 has none

With pre-filter being one of the main features of contemporary air purifiers, I think that this could easily be a deal-breaking difference between our rivals.

Blueair 411 uses a specific type of pre-filter that is user-friendly and easily washable. It is recommended that you clean the pre-filter once a month, and you can freely use the regular vacuum cleaner to do so.

What makes this pre-filter distinguishable is the variety of colors that it comes in. Dark Shadow and Diva Blue are usually shipped initially, but if you prefer something different, you can order other colors like Buff Yellow, Crystal Pink, or Lunar Rock on-demand, which are charged separately.

Airflow

Although the design of the mentioned devices is completely different, the basic construction is almost identical.

Both Levoit LV-H132 and Blueair 411 are circular in shape, with the filter positioned on the bottom. The air is pulled in from all directions in each of them – Blueair 411 pulls the air through the 2/3 of the device’s body, while Levoit uses small openings on the bottom part of its body.

The air is then filtered and leaves through the grid on top of both devices.

Filtration Technology

You will agree with me that filtration is the actual reason for buying the air purifier in the first place, so you better keep on reading.

When it comes to filtration, it is really a rat race between Levoit LV-H132 and Blueair 411. Levoit LV-H132 uses a True HEPA filter, while Blueair 411 uses a regular HEPA filter.

But, on the other hand, Blueair 411 has a couple of times larger filters than Levoit LV-H132 and also uses a washable pre-filter, while Levoit uses a non-washable pre-filter that can be vacuumed instead.

Levoit LV-H132 uses an activated carbon filter with pellets. It is used to absorb a huger amount of gases, which obviously makes him a better choice in this battle phase.

However, Blueair has a fibrous filter coated with carbon, a high-quality alternative that is not to be underestimated. Both devices have a pre-filter separated from the main filter.

How To Replace Filter On Both These Devices?

One of the most important things when it comes to using air purifiers is knowing how to replace the filter without damaging the device.

Levoit LV-H132 filter can be replaced in 7 easy steps and should be changed after a maximum period of 6 months, while Blueair 411 filter should last a bit longer, requiring to be changed between 6-8 months

Both devices have a Filter Reset Indicator, so they will surely let you know when the time is right.

Blueair has a washable pre-filter, which makes it tidier and easier to maintain. Blueair filter is much more durable and physically larger but, at the same time, a bit more expensive than the filter for the Levoit LV-H132 purifier.

As I mentioned before, cleaning the pre-filter is crucial, in that way, you will extend the lifespan of the HEPA filter and maintain the excellence of the device performances.

Noise Test

Both Levoit LV-H132 and Blueair 411 come with three fan speeds and without sleep mode.

Lack of sleep mode can represent a difficulty for people who are sensitive to sounds when asleep. In my opinion, it is an option that could have been easily implemented by the manufacturer.

Motor sounds vary between the two. The Levoit LV-H132 has bearable motor sound without cracking, while the Blueair 411 produces a bit of strange noise at the maximum speed, especially if it is placed on a rugged surface.

Product Noise Range (dBA)
Levoit LV-H132 43.1 – 57.7 dBA
Blue Pure 411 40.6 – 67.5 dBA

Both devices have an exceptional threshold of minimum noise. However, at the maximum speed, they can get uncomfortably loud.

Performance Tests

Levoit LV-H132 has a room coverage of 129 sq. ft., while Blueair Pure 411 covers a much larger room surface of 161 sq. ft.

Because their room coverage is different, I tested them both separately in the 194 sq. ft. room.

The test lasted 60 minutes at maximum speed. I measured the air quality with a Temtop air quality meter to get the most accurate results.

194 sq. ft. Room Tests

In this test, which is performed in a room of 194 sq. ft., the Levoit LV-H132 improved the air quality by about 87% for just 60 minutes.

On the contrary, in the same conditions, the Blueair 411 improved the air quality by about 95%. In that way, it has overcome the Levoit LV-H132 performance-wise.

Having a much higher CADR, the Blueair 411 clearly did extremely well and much better than the Levoit LV-H132.

Operating Costs

When choosing the right air purifier, electricity consumption is an essential part of the decision.

Levoit LV-H132 has a noticeably more powerful motor than Blueair, using a staggering 28W compared to the 10W of Blueair 411.

Since it has a much weaker motor, Blueair is much more economical. Namely, if you use it 24 hours a day for a month at maximum speed, Blueair will cost you less than one dollar, believe it or not. Under the same circumstances, Levoit LV-H132 will spend 1.9$.

When it comes to filter replacement, Levoit LV-H132 is more affordable, but the difference in the filter price is not large enough to become significant.

Overall, the Blueair 411 is a bit cheaper to maintain than Levoit, bringing him victory once again.

Which One Does It Better?

This comparison was quite a bumpy ride, but simultaneously remarkable all the way to the end, constantly concealing its winner. You’re probably wondering – who makes the cut?

Taking all the tests into consideration, it is easy to see who finally gets the trophy. Because of being a better performer, having a low electricity consumption, and overall silence at the minimum speed, Blueair 411 is pronounced as our champion.

Blueair 411 is a minimalistic and somehow innovative air purifier and is in my opinion, definitely, the better choice to buy.

If you want to try out the Levoit LV-H132, you will not go wrong, because it is a remarkable air purifier, much more silent at the max speed than Blueair, and an air purifier of good performance that won’t leave you disappointed
