In this article, I will compare the most popular Levoit air purifier, the Core 300S, with the DIY-style air purifier, the AirFanta 3Pro.
We’ll see whether the new and DIY AirFanta can compete with this Levoit model, what these two devices offer in this price range, and, of course, which one is the better choice.
Interestingly, for a similar price, you get the AirFanta 3Pro with a CADR of 413 CFM (702 mÂł/h) and the Levoit Core 300S with a CADR of 141 CFM (240 mÂł/h).
However, what makes the Levoit interesting is its variety of advanced features, the built-in air quality sensor, and the wide availability of replacement filters.
Our Verdict

On one side, we have the Levoit Core 300S — a modern air purifier equipped with smart features and one of the best-selling models on the market.
On the other side, we have the DIY-style air purifier, the AirFanta 3Pro — a minimalist device without advanced options and with a much less attractive design compared to the Levoit.
Based on all the tests, I would say that the AirFanta 3Pro is a much better choice if performance and a well-optimized motor for noise are your primary goals when choosing an air purifier.

Performance Test – Comparison
I think it’s really challenging to compare the performance of these two devices in rooms of identical dimensions, mainly because of the difference in their CADR values.
That’s why we tested both models in rooms that are approximately similar to their recommended sizes. In a 560 sq. ft. (52 m²) room, the AirFanta 3Pro improved air quality by an impressive 96%.
Particle Removal Tests - Comparison
We placed the AirFanta 3Pro and Levoit Core 300S in two separate tests and measured their performance using the Temtop laser particle meter.
On the other hand, in a 194 sq. ft. (18 m²) room, the Levoit Core 300S improved air quality by about 94%.
Basically, we can conclude that both devices achieved excellent results in performance tests, with the AirFanta 3Pro being slightly more efficient.
In short, the AirFanta 3Pro is more effective and will deliver better performance than the Levoit Core 300S under identical conditions.
Noise Level Test – Comparison
When it comes to fan speeds, the AirFanta 3Pro has six, while the Levoit Core 300S has four.
In addition, the Levoit features an auto mode that works in combination with its built-in air quality sensor.
We tested the noise levels at all speeds using a specialized sound level meter.
Noise Level Comparison
Comparing the AirFanta 3Pro and Levoit Core 300S noise levels at minimum and maximum speeds.
At the lowest speed, the Levoit Core 300S produces a noise level of 41.4 dBA, while the AirFanta 3Pro produces 40.1 dBA.
At the maximum speed, the situation is a bit different — the AirFanta 3Pro produces 62.5 dBA, while the Levoit produces 65.2 dBA.
Not only is the Levoit generally louder, but it also has a much worse CADR-to-noise ratio than the AirFanta, which is why I would say that the AirFanta 3Pro is much better optimized for noise than the Levoit.
Operating Costs – Comparison
The first thing I compare when talking about operating costs is power consumption. The AirFanta 3Pro uses a 38W motor, while the Levoit Core 300S uses a slightly weaker 26W motor.
If you were to run these two air purifiers 24 hours a day for a month, your electricity bill would increase by about $2.89 in the case of the AirFanta 3Pro and about $2.01 in the case of the Levoit Core 300S.
Power Usage Comparison
Comparing the AirFanta 3Pro and Levoit Core 300S power use at minimum and maximum speeds.
Additionally, there’s the cost of replacement filters, which is slightly lower for the Levoit, primarily because the AirFanta uses as many as four filters.
Even though the filters in the AirFanta air purifier last somewhat longer, that’s not enough for it to come out as the winner in this test.
The Levoit Core 300S is slightly more affordable to maintain annually than the AirFanta 3Pro.
