Coway and Levoit are big rivals. These brands offer some of the best air purifiers I have ever tried.
In this article, I will compare the Coway Airmega 50 and Levoit Vital 100S, two small but powerful air purifiers, and will decide which one is a better buy.
Both devices have some advanced features, but the Levoit Vital 100S has a smart app and many more smart features.
However, the real difference lies in the CADR: the Coway has a CADR of 66.7 CFM (113.3 mÂł/h), while the Levoit Vital 100S has a CADR of 141 CFM (240 mÂł/h).
Our Verdict

I have to say that both devices are excellent and will get the job done, but in my opinion, the Levoit Vital 100S is a far better air purifier.
It offers more advanced features, a higher CADR, and perhaps most importantly, delivers significantly better performance, particularly when it comes to odor neutralization and smoke removal.
The Coway Airmega 50 is also a solid choice, but better suited for smaller spaces like compact bedrooms, nurseries, and similar rooms.
If you have any questions about either of these two devices, feel free to leave a comment in the comments section below the article.

Performance Test – Comparison
Based on their room coverage, we placed these two air purifiers in a few different tests.
However, the most reliable and important one for this comparison is the test in a 194 sq. ft. (18 m²) room.
They both worked for 60 minutes at their maximum speeds. The results: the Coway Airmega 50 improved air quality by 90%, while the Levoit Vital 100S did so by 95%.
Particle Removal Tests - Comparison
We placed the Coway Airmega 50 and Levoit Vital 100S in two separate tests and measured their performance using the Temtop laser particle meter.
It’s clear that the Levoit Vital 100S is more powerful and more efficient, which is why it has achieved a much better result in our airborne particle removal test.
Also, it has a much better carbon filter, which is pellet-based, and showed a better performance in bad odor and smoke removal.
Noise Level Test – Comparison
As for the noise levels, the first difference here is that the Levoit has five, while the Coway has four fan speeds. Besides, both devices have auto mode.
We measured their noise levels at maximum speeds using a specialized noise measurement tool.
Noise Levels - Comparison
Comparison of noise levels at all fan speeds between the Coway Airmega 50 and Levoit Vital 100S air purifiers.
At the lowest speed, the Coway Airmega 50 produces a sound of 40 dBA, while the Levoit Vital 100S produces a sound of 40.5 dBA.
At the maximum speed, the Coway produces a sound of 57.1 dBA, while the Levoit produces a sound of 65.4 dBA.
| Fan Speed | Coway Airmega 50 (dBA) | Levoit Vital 100S (dBA) |
|---|---|---|
| Sleep Mode | 40 dBA | 40.5 dBA |
| Speed 1 (Low) | 41.2 dBA | 42.7 dBA |
| Speed 2 (Medium) | 49.4 dBA | 51.6 dBA |
| Speed 3 (High) | 57.1 dBA | 58.7 dBA |
| Speed 4 (Turbo) | - | 65.4 dBA |
It’s clear that the Levoit is a much louder machine, especially at the maximum speed. However, you should keep in mind that it has more fan speeds and also a higher CADR.
Operating Costs – Comparison
Frankly, I expected that the Levoit Vital 100S would cost you more in terms of power use.
It’s a larger air purifier, with a larger CADR and a larger motor of 35W. On the other hand, the Coway Airmega 50 uses a motor of 14W.
Monthly Power Consumption Cost - Comparison
Comparison of monthly power consumption costs for the Coway Airmega 50 and Levoit Vital 100S air purifiers at all fan speeds.
If you were to use both these devices at their maximum speeds, 24h daily, for one month, your electric power bill would increase by about $2.66 in the case of the Levoit, and by about $1.01 in the case of the Coway.
| Fan Speed | Coway Airmega 50 (W + $/month) | Levoit Vital 100S (W + $/month) |
|---|---|---|
| Standby | 0W ($0) | 1.5W ($0.13) |
| Sleep Mode | 0.8W ($0.07) | 3.2W ($0.28) |
| Speed 1 (Low) | 2.8W ($0.25) | 6.5W ($0.57) |
| Speed 2 (Medium) | 6.2W ($0.54) | 10.5W ($0.92) |
| Speed 3 (High) | 11.5W ($1.01) | 17.6W ($1.54) |
| Speed 4 (Turbo) | - | 30.3W ($2.66) |
If we summarize the cost of the replacement filter, which is more durable in the case of the Levoit, but also more expensive, and the cost of the power use, we can easily say that the Coway Airmega 50 is slightly better optimized for annual maintenance.
