Full Review
The SwitchBot CO2 Monitor is a simple air quality device primarily designed to display CO2 levels in your home.
It can be mounted on a wall, placed on a desk, or positioned on a shelf. In addition to CO2 readings, it also measures temperature and humidity levels.

What I particularly like is that it includes plenty of smart features, offers solid build quality, and overall feels like a very good little device.
Sensor Types & Accuracy
The SwitchBot CO2 Monitor relies on the Sensirion SCD40 sensor, which provides measurements for CO2, temperature, and humidity.
This Swiss-made sensor is widely used in indoor air quality monitors and is known for its reliability.
It measures CO2 within a range of 400â9999 ppm, with an accuracy of ± (50 ppm + 5% of reading), which is quite good for a consumer-grade device.

It offers the same accuracy as the Qingping Gen 2 Monitor, which is one of the best air quality monitors we have tested.
One limitation of this sensor is that it doesn’t measure CO2 in real time. Instead, it measures CO2 concentrations every 30, 10, or 5 minutes, depending on your settings. These intervals can be adjusted via the SwitchBot smart app.
CO2 levels are an important indicator of indoor air quality. High concentrations may contribute to poor concentration, headaches, and general discomfort. For that reason, a device like this can be a worthwhile investment in overall home comfort, especially when combined with proper ventilation and air purifiers.
Measured Data Reporting
This compact air quality monitor displays data either on its built-in screen or through the SwitchBot smart app.
You can view CO2, temperature, and humidity readings, along with the time, date, and a basic comfort rating of your indoor air: Dry, Comfort, or Wet.

The device also features a so-to-say indicator that visually signals the current CO2 concentration level in three colors.
CO2 levels between 400â1000 ppm indicate excellent ventilation (green indicator). Levels between 1000â1400 ppm indicate poor ventilation (orange indicator), while concentrations above 1400 ppm signal very poor ventilation (red indicator).
Display
The display shows all the essential information related to CO2 levels.
It features a black-and-white layout with slight color accents that indicate whether the current CO2 concentration is within a safe range.

On top of the device, there is a button, which is used mainly to manually trigger a CO2 measurement.

The display itself is sharp and easy to read. However, I would prefer if it included a backlight, as reading the data at night can be difficult.
Smart App
One of the most important aspects of this monitor is the SwitchBot smart app, which significantly expands the device’s functionality.
Through the app, you can adjust the CO2 measurement interval, customize what shows on the display, and enable or disable specific data points.

The app also provides access to historical data for CO2, temperature, and humidity, along with additional metrics such as absolute humidity, dew point, and vapor-pressure deficit.
Without the SwitchBot Hub, the device connects via Bluetooth. With the Hub, however, you can unlock Wi-Fi, Thread, and Matter integration, enabling more advanced automation and better remote access features.
Also, the app allows you to configure alerts and notifications based on the monitorâs readings.
Cleaning & Calibrating
The SwitchBot CO2 Monitor features automatic self-calibration, meaning manual calibration is generally not required.
However, you can still perform a manual calibration through the smart app. Simply open the Calibrate CO2 Monitor setting and follow the on-screen instructions.

In most cases, this involves placing the device in a well-ventilated area for several minutes.
For temperature and humidity readings, the app allows you to set offsets, which is practical if you notice any measurement deviations.
Design & Build Quality
I was truly impressed by the build quality of the SwitchBot CO2 Monitor.
The device uses high-quality plastic, and everything feels well-assembled and properly sealed. The display is large and clearly shows all essential data.

On the back, there is a battery case that holds two AA batteries, but the monitor can also operate when connected to a power source (USB-C).
One feature I do miss is a built-in fan, which could potentially improve CO2 measurement responsiveness and consistency. However, this would likely result in significantly higher battery consumption.
What comes with the device?
When you buy the SwitchBot CO2 monitor, you will get the monitor, AA batteries, USB-C cable, and user manuals.
FAQ on SwitchBot CO2 Monitor
How accurate are the CO2 readings?
The monitor provides reliable accuracy for a consumer device. It measures CO2 within a range of 400â9999 ppm, with an accuracy of ± (50 ppm + 5% of reading).
How often are readings updated?
CO2 measurements are updated at intervals of 5, 10, or 30 minutes. This setting can be changed through the SwitchBot smart app.
Do I need to use the SwitchBot smart app?
No, the monitor can operate without the app. However, connecting it to the SwitchBot smart app is highly recommended, as it unlocks additional features, settings, and historical data.
Can I get alerts when CO2 levels are too high?
Yes. Alerts can be enabled via the smart app. Without the SwitchBot Hub, notifications are delivered only when your phone is within Bluetooth range. With the Hub, alerts work remotely.
