Full Review
The Levoit Dual 200S is an ultrasonic cool mist humidifier with a 3 L water tank, a built-in humidity sensor, auto mode, and support for the VeSync smart app.
Design-wise, it looks very similar to the Levoit Dual 150, which I reviewed recently. However, the Dual 200S is a smart device, while the Dual 150 isn’t.
It can measure the current humidity level, automatically adjust its operation, and work with the VeSync app.

According to Levoit, it’s intended for rooms of up to 290 sq. ft. (27 m²), which makes it best suited for bedrooms, offices, kids’ rooms, and other smaller spaces.
I’ve just recently started testing humidifiers more extensively, and I have to say that I find this product category quite interesting. There are more differences between these devices than I initially expected, especially when it comes to performance, smart features, tank size, and overall usability.
Because of that, you can definitely expect many more humidifier reviews and comparisons on Air Purifier First in the future.
As for the Dual 200S itself, I think it’s an okay humidifier, but nothing more than that.
It works well, has useful smart features, and performed decently in our tests, but there simply isn’t anything about it that really stands out from the competition.
How We Tested the Levoit Dual 200S?
1. We test every humidifier in the same 194 sq. ft. (18 m²) room. Before each test, we use a dehumidifier to lower the relative humidity in the room to around 40% RH, so every unit starts the test under identical conditions.
2. To track humidity levels, we use the Govee Hygrometer H5075 as our primary measuring device. We also set up a ThermoPro hygrometer as a secondary unit, which we use to confirm and cross-check the readings from the Govee.
3. We turn the Levoit Dual 200S to maximum speed and let it run for 60 minutes. During this time, we measure the total RH increase the unit achieves, as well as how long it takes to raise the humidity by +5% RH.
4. We measure how much water the Levoit Dual 200S uses in 60 minutes of running at max speed. Based on the measured water consumption (in mL/h) and the tank capacity, we calculate the real runtime on a full tank, not the manufacturer’s claim, but what we actually measured in our test.
5. Finally, we measure the power consumption of the Levoit Dual 200S using a power meter. From this, we calculate how much it would add to your electricity bill if you ran it 24/7 at max speed for a month, and its efficiency in mL of water per watt-hour (mL/Wh), a metric that shows how well the unit converts electricity into moisture output.

We test the humidity output of every humidifier in a 194 sq. ft. (18 m²) room over a 60-minute period at each fan speed. Relative humidity is measured with the GoveeLife Hygrometer and additionally verified with a TempPro hygrometer.
You can read more about our testing methodology here.
Using the Govee Hygrometer H5075, we measured how effectively the Levoit Dual 200S increases the relative humidity in our test room.
We also measured its actual water consumption and compared the results with some of the other humidifiers we’ve tested.
Efficiency Test
We placed the Levoit Dual 200S in our 194 sq. ft. (18 m²) test room.
Before starting the test, we used a dehumidifier to lower the relative humidity to 40.6%.
Then, we switched the Levoit to its maximum mist setting and let it work for 60 minutes.

After the test, the humidity had increased to 52.7%, meaning the Levoit Dual 200S increased the relative humidity by 12.1 percentage points.
It took only 13 minutes to increase the humidity by 5 percentage points.
I would say this is a pretty good result.
For comparison, the Levoit Dual 150 increased the humidity by 10.2 percentage points in our test and needed as much as 39 minutes to achieve a 5-point increase.
The DREO HM311S increased humidity by approximately 12 percentage points, which is almost identical to the Dual 200S, although its overall humidification efficiency rating was slightly higher.
However, neither comes close to the Levoit OasisMist 450S, which increased relative humidity by approximately 16.9 percentage points under similar conditions.
All in all, I think the Dual 200S performed quite well in our humidity increase test.
What’s somewhat surprising is its relatively low measured water consumption, which I’ll explain in more detail below.
Runtime
During the same test, we measured how much water the Levoit Dual 200S used while operating at maximum speed.

Before the test, the device weighed 4256 g, while after 60 minutes it weighed 4117 g. This means it used approximately 139 mL of water per hour. Considering its 3 L tank, a full tank should last approximately 21.5 hours at maximum output.
Water Consumption & Tank Runtime Comparison
Two things at once: how much water each humidifier uses per hour at max speed (darker bars, bottom scale), and how long a full tank lasts at that rate (lighter bars, top scale).
The DREO HM311S lasts approximately 19.4 hours, although keep in mind that the DREO releases significantly more water at maximum speed, around 206 mL/h, and has a larger 4 L water tank.
I think a larger water tank would make the Dual 200S even better, but honestly, 3 L is perfectly sufficient for this type of humidifier. This is especially true if you plan to use it in a bedroom.
If you run it only while sleeping and use one of the lower mist settings, you could easily go several nights without having to refill it.
Like most ultrasonic cool mist humidifiers, the Levoit Dual 200S uses very little electricity. Although the motor is rated at 24W, it used 23.2W at maximum speed in our test.

If you left the Dual 200S running continuously at maximum speed, 24 hours a day for one month, it would increase your electricity bill by approximately $2.03, assuming an electricity price of $0.12 per kWh.
At its lowest speed, the same usage would cost approximately $1.21 per month.
Monthly Electricity Cost Comparison
Estimated monthly electricity cost of running each humidifier for 24 hours a day at $0.12 per kWh — darker bars show max speed, lighter bars the lowest speed. Lower is better.
So, regardless of how often you use it, electricity costs shouldn’t be something you need to worry about. However, when we look at how much moisture it produces for every watt-hour of electricity, the result isn’t particularly impressive.
The Levoit Dual 200S achieved approximately 6.0 mL/Wh, while the average of the humidifiers in our comparison is around 9.8 mL/Wh (see the chart).
Moisture Efficiency Comparison
How much moisture each humidifier produces per watt-hour of electricity at max speed — higher is better. Calculated from our measured water usage and power draw.
For comparison, the Levoit OasisMist 450S achieved approximately 11.0 mL/Wh.
So, while the Dual 200S is inexpensive to run, I wouldn’t describe it as particularly well optimized when it comes to moisture output per watt-hour.
Cleaning & Maintenance
When it comes to cleaning, the Levoit Dual 200S isn’t much different from the other ultrasonic humidifiers I’ve tested.
You’ll periodically need to clean the water tank, base chamber, ultrasonic membrane, and all other surfaces that are regularly exposed to water.

What I like is the top-fill design, which makes refilling and accessing the tank much easier.
The type of water you use also makes a huge difference. If you regularly use hard tap water, mineral deposits and limescale will form much more quickly, especially around the ultrasonic membrane and other areas where water sits.
On the other hand, if you use distilled or demineralized water, maintenance will be much easier.
You’ll also reduce the amount of white mineral dust that ultrasonic humidifiers can release into the room.
Overall, I wouldn’t say the Dual 200S is particularly difficult to clean.
Features Overview
Features are probably one of the strongest points of the Levoit Dual 200S.
It has a built-in humidity sensor, auto mode, and support for the VeSync smart app. That makes everyday use significantly easier.
Humidity Sensor & Auto Mode
The Levoit Dual 200S has a built-in humidity sensor that continuously measures the relative humidity in the room. This information is then used by auto mode.
Instead of manually changing the mist output throughout the day, you can set the desired humidity level and let the humidifier adjust its operation automatically.

I think this is an extremely useful feature, especially if you plan to use the humidifier in a bedroom.
It also reduces the risk of unnecessarily increasing humidity beyond the level you actually want.
VeSync Smart App
The Levoit Dual 200S works with the VeSync smart app.
I’ve used VeSync with many Levoit devices over the years, and I generally think it’s one of the best smart-home apps available for this type of product.
The app lets you monitor humidity, control the humidifier remotely, set a target humidity level, and configure timers and schedules. Levoit also supports third-party voice control through VeSync.
The app is responsive, easy to understand, and gives you much more control than what’s available directly on the device.
This is definitely one area where I think the Dual 200S does a very good job.
Timer & Scheduling
The Levoit Dual 200S also has timers and scheduling. These are especially useful if you use the humidifier at night.
For example, you can create a schedule that automatically switches the humidifier on shortly before going to bed and turns it off in the morning.
Combined with the humidity sensor and Auto Mode, this means you can essentially automate most of its operation.
Aromatherapy
The Dual 200S also supports aromatherapy. Levoit allows essential oils to be added to the designated base chamber rather than simply treating the entire water tank like an essential oil diffuser.

Personally, aromatherapy isn’t a feature that would influence my buying decision much, but it’s a useful extra if you enjoy using essential oils.
Automatic Shut-Off
Like practically every modern humidifier, the Levoit Dual 200S automatically stops operating when there isn’t enough water left in the tank.
It’s a basic feature, but particularly useful if you leave the humidifier operating overnight.
Design & Build Quality
The Levoit Dual 200S looks very similar to the Levoit Dual 150. Both have a simple, rounded design, a transparent water tank, and a very compact footprint.
Frankly, I don’t think the design is anything special.
It looks clean and modern enough to fit into almost any bedroom or office, but it doesn’t have the visual appeal. The plastic quality is okay.

It doesn’t feel cheap, but I also wouldn’t describe the materials or overall build quality as premium.
It’s more or less what I would expect from a humidifier in this price category. One thing I definitely like is the top-fill design.
You simply remove the top cover and pour water directly into the tank, which is much easier than older bottom-fill humidifiers that require you to remove and flip the tank every time. The water tank has a capacity of 3 L.
I would prefer it to be a little larger, especially since some similarly sized competitors manage to fit 4 L tanks, but in practice I think 3 L is enough.
The Dual 200S also has an adjustable 360-degree mist nozzle, allowing you to change the direction in which the mist is released.
What comes with the device?
When you purchase the Levoit Dual 200S, you get the humidifier, cleaning brush, user manual, and quick start guide. Levoit also lists a water filter sponge with the Dual 200S package.
FAQ on Levoit Dual 200S
Is the Levoit Dual 200S good for bedrooms?
Yes. In fact, I think bedrooms are one of the best uses for this humidifier.
It operates quietly, has a built-in humidity sensor, Auto Mode, scheduling, and smart controls.
And because it uses relatively little water at lower speeds, you may be able to use it for several nights before needing to refill the tank.
Can I use tap water?
You can, but I would recommend distilled or demineralized water if possible.
Tap water, especially hard water, can create limescale inside the humidifier and may result in white mineral dust being released into the room.
Using water with fewer minerals will also make cleaning considerably easier.
Does the Levoit Dual 200S have a humidity sensor?
Yes. It has a built-in humidity sensor, which is used to display the current humidity level and allows Auto Mode to adjust the humidifier automatically.
