UV-C Light With Titanium Dioxide

Ultraviolet light is advanced technology that many air purifiers use to clean the air. With the UV-C light, GermGuardian 1000 is capable of removing airborne particles from the air as well as fresh the air by removing odors. Together in combination with titanium dioxide this little device is capable of removing mold spores, germs, airborne bacteria, and viruses. Now I am not sure if these statements are 100% correct, but UV light can kill some viruses and some bacteria.

UV-C light was used for many years to kill viruses and other germs. It is proven that with a strong UV-C light you can kill almost all germs in the room. Because of that feature UV-C light is used in sanitize rooms in hospitals as well as used to keep medical furniture and equipment clean.

No Filters

Having an air purifier without filter replacement is nothing new. Many old air purifiers were without a filter. GG1000 is planned that way, but with advanced technology, this little device is capable of providing a decent air quality for an affordable price.

How This Filterless Air Purifier Works

Air purifier uses chamber were all the air is going through. In that chamber, air is treated with UV-C light and hopefully kill all the unwanted particles and other microorganisms that can be found in air. To kill microorganisms, they need to be expšosed to UV-C light for a longer time. In a small room this is possible, but as soon as you use this little device in a big room killing microorganisms is useless because there is no chance that this little device will kill them because air is getting filtered too slow.

Another problem is that this device needs to be turned on 24/7 to actually kill microorganisms because microorganisms need to be exposed to UV-C light all the time.

Nobody can know how effective GG1000 is, GermGuardian have claimed that it can kill mold spores, germs, viruses, and bacteria and there is no test to prove that. In theory, this air purifier should work, but in practice, there may be some difficulties. It is up to you to decide and test it on your own; the good news is that this air purifier is extremely affordable.

Removing Odor

We can say that this device is actually not air purifier, it is air sanitizer. It does not have a filter and is not removing air particles from the room by caught them with a filter. Because of no filter and inability to remove airborne particles people mostly use this air purifier to keep the air fresh. It is well known that UV-C light is a good way to keep air fresh and free from bad smells.

Because of the ability to remove bad odors people mostly use this air purifier in office, kitchen, bathroom, pet room, and garage. If in the process viruses and bacteria get killed then you should consider that as a bonus.

UV-C Light Bulb Needs Replacement

Ultraviolet light just like any other light has its own hours of working. After 4000 hours of emitting light the power of the bulb is lost and it is highly recommended to replace it. Replacement lamp is affordable and available worldwide. In average people replace the UV bulb every six to nine months depending on how often they turn GG1000 on.

No Dangerous Emissions

I know many people have concerns when they see no filter air purifier because many of them are using ionization as the air purification method and in the process emit ozone. Thankfully GermGuardian GG1000 is not emitting ozone because there is no ionization process. GG1000 will not get hot and that means that it will not produce any unwanted chemicals. By buying GermGuardian GG1000, you can be assured that you are buying a safe air purifier that will not cause more harm than do good.

Pros and Cons

To revise, here are advantages and disadvantages of GG1000:

  • Affordable Price
  • No Maintenance Costs
  • Simple to Use
  • Cool Design
  • No Chemical Emissions
  • Does Not Emit Ozone
  • One Year Warranty

  • Does Not Have Filters
  • GermGuardian Claims Can not be Proven
  • Airborne Particles Are Not Removed From The Room
  • Too Loud for Bedroom

The UV Light Bulb is not really powerful, and because of that, it is not recommended to put all your hopes in this little device to actually kill all bacteria and viruses in the room. But if you are looking for extremely affordable air purifier which will make the air in the room fresh and free from bad smells, then GermGuardian GG1000 is the best choice for that.

This air purifier can be used in any small room, and it will for sure remove bad smell, and maybe in the process kill some of the viruses and bacteria.
