The Winix T810 and Levoit Core 400S share almost identical design principles; both have similar CADRs and features, and both achieved outstanding results in our tests.

Our Verdict

After deeply analyzing these two devices, I would say that each has its own pros and cons.
In general, they are both smart, use similar filtration technology, and provide outstanding results in our tests.
Still, the Levoit Core 400S is slightly better optimized for noise and power use. However, the Winix T810 achieved better results in our PM1-to-zero tests, and it uses a True HEPA filter.
These small differences are the reason I would pick the Winix T810 as a slightly better buying option.

Performance Test – Comparison
As I already said, both air purifiers have a large CADR; the Winix T810 has a CADR of 270 CFM (459 m³/h), making it ideal for rooms of up to 419 sq. ft. (39 m²).
The Levoit Core 400S, on the other hand, has a CADR of 260 CFM (442 m³/h) and is ideal for rooms of up to 403 sq. ft. (37 m²).
We tested their airborne particle removal performance in a room of 320 sq. ft. (30 m²), using a Temtop laser particle meter.
In 60 minutes, while working at maximum speed the whole time, the Winix T810 improved air quality by 95%, while the Levoit Core 400S improved it by 96%.
Particle Removal Tests - Comparison
We placed the Winix T810 and Levoit Core 400S in two separate tests and measured their performance using the Temtop laser particle meter.
However, in our PM1-to-zero test, which is more precise and more advanced, we measured how fast each air purifier reduced PM1 particulate matter to 0.
The result: the Winix T810 was slightly faster at each fan speed. At speed 1, it needed 63 minutes, while the Core 400S needed 68 minutes. At maximum speed, the Winix needed 27 minutes, while the Levoit needed 35 minutes.
However, the Levoit Core 400S has a better carbon filter (a pellet-based one), which is why it achieved better results in our bad odor removal tests.
In conclusion, I would say that the Winix T810 performed slightly better in airborne particle removal tests.
Noise Level Test – Comparison
As for the noise test, we tested noise levels at each fan speed of these two air purifiers, using a specialized noise measurement tool.
Both have five fan speeds and an auto mode feature.
At the lowest speed, the Winix produces 40.1 dBA, while the Levoit produces 42.1 dBA. However, at maximum speed, the Levoit is much better optimized; it produces 59.9 dBA, while the Winix produces 66.7 dBA.

What’s interesting is that the Winix is slightly louder at each fan speed, but at the same time produces better results in PM1-to-zero tests.
For example, at speed 2, the Winix produces 48.5 dBA and reduces PM1 to zero in 40 minutes, while the Levoit Core 400S produces 47.8 dBA and reduces PM1 to zero in 49 minutes.

The difference in tests isn’t too large, but the difference in sound produced at maximum speed is truly large, which is why I would say that the Levoit Core 400S is better optimized for noise.
Operating Costs – Comparison
When talking about power use, the first thing to say is that the Winix T810 uses a 45W motor, while the Levoit Core 400S uses a 38W motor.
If you were to use these two air purifiers at their maximum speeds, 24 hours daily, for one month, your electric power bill would increase by about $3.06 in the case of the Levoit and by about $3.75 in the case of the Winix.

Besides the power cost, there is also the cost of replacement filters, which need to be replaced approximately once per year for both devices. However, the price of the replacement filter is slightly higher for the Winix.

Summing everything up, I would say that the Levoit Core 400S is slightly more affordable for annual maintenance.
