Winix A231 vs Morento MR2566 – Which Is Better?

Should you buy the Winix A231 or the Morento MR2566, read our in-depth overview and find out which one to pick.

The Winix A231 and Morento MR2566 are two small air purifiers with relatively low CADR ratings and only a few smart features.

Even so, the Winix is a significantly more powerful device and is designed for rooms of up to 230 sq. ft. (21 m²), while the Morento MR2566 is suitable for much smaller spaces of up to 50 sq. ft. (4.6 m²).

This small coverage of the Morento is reflected in its lower performance, but it also results in lower power consumption and very good noise optimization.

In this article, I will compare their performance, specifications, and overall value to determine which one is the better buy.

Performance Test – Comparison

As mentioned earlier, the Winix A231 has a significantly higher CADR than the Morento MR2566.

The Winix A231 has a CADR of 147 CFM (250 m³/h), while the Morento MR2566 is rated at 32 CFM (54 m³/h).

Particle Removal Tests - Comparison

We placed the Winix A231 and Morento MR2566 in two separate tests and measured their performance using the Temtop laser particle meter.

Despite this large difference, we tested both air purifiers in the same 194 sq. ft. (18 m²) room.

In this test, the Winix A231 improved air quality by 95%, whereas the Morento MR2566 achieved an improvement of 78%.

These results clearly show that the Winix A231 is more efficient and significantly more capable of capturing airborne particles.

Noise Level Test – Comparison

When it comes to noise, the Winix A231 offers one additional fan speed, for a total of four, but it’s slightly louder at maximum speed than the Morento MR2566.

At maximum speed, the Morento MR2566 produces 60.7 dBA, while the Winix A231 reaches 66.5 dBA.

Noise Levels - Comparison

Comparison of noise levels at all fan speeds between the Winix A231 and Morento MR2566 air purifiers.

At their lowest speeds, both air purifiers produce an identical noise level of 40.2 dBA.

Although the Winix A231 is noticeably louder at maximum speed, it also delivers a much better CADR-to-noise ratio at that setting.

Fan Speed Morento MR2566 (dBA)Winix A231 (dBA)
Sleep Mode40.2 dBA40.2 dBA
Speed 1 (Low)45.7 dBA48.2 dBA
Speed 2 (Medium)60.7 dBA54.3 dBA
Speed 3 (High)-66.5 dBA

Taking this into account, the Winix A231 appears to be better optimized for noise overall, offering a significantly higher CADR while maintaining similar low-speed noise levels compared to the Morento.

Operating Costs – Comparison

The Morento MR2566 is an extremely low-power consumer, featuring a motor of just 7W, which is difficult to beat in this class.

The Winix A231, on the other hand, uses a 55W motor, which, in my opinion, is quite high for a device of this size.

Monthly Power Consumption Cost - Comparison

Comparison of monthly power consumption costs for the Winix A231 and Morento MR2566 air purifiers at all fan speeds.

If both air purifiers were operated at their maximum speeds 24 hours a day for one month, the estimated increase in electricity costs would be about $3.56 for the Winix A231 and approximately $0.52 for the Morento MR2566.

When it comes to replacement filters, the Winix filter is more expensive, but it also has a significantly longer lifespan.

Fan Speed Morento MR2566 (W + $/month)Winix A231 (W + $/month)
Standby0.3W ($0.03)0.3W ($0.03)
Sleep Mode0.6W ($0.05)9.9W ($0.87)
