This is perhaps one of the most wanted comparisons, mainly because the Winix 5510 and Levoit Vital 200S are among the best air purifiers we’ve tested so far.
What makes these two models stand out is plenty of smart features, smart app compatibility, air quality sensor, auto mode, and other advanced options.
Additionally, they have almost identical CADR ratings: the Winix 5510 has a CADR of 253 CFM (430 mÂł/h), while the Levoit Vital 200S achieves 245 CFM (416 mÂł/h).
The Levoit uses a three-stage filtration system, whereas the Winix features a four-stage filtration system, with the final stage, PlasmaWave, being optional to use.
Our Verdict

After analyzing all the tests and specifications, it’s time to pick a winner.
In my opinion, the Levoit Vital 200S is the better choice. It performed slightly better in the smoke test, offers a wider range of advanced features, uses a more sophisticated smart app, and is somewhat more affordable to maintain annually.
However, it’s worth noting that whichever of these two models you choose, you really can’t go wrong, both are outstanding devices and rank among the best we’ve tested so far.

Performance Test – Comparison
A great aspect of the performance test is that these two air purifiers are designed to cover rooms of almost identical size, which is why we tested both in rooms of the same dimensions.
We placed each device in separate tests in a 320 sq. ft. (30 m²) room and let them run for 60 minutes at maximum speed.
Particle Removal Tests - Comparison
We placed the Winix 5510 and Levoit Vital 200S in two separate tests and measured their performance using the Temtop laser particle meter.
During that time, both air purifiers improved the air quality by approximately 96%, which is the best result we’ve seen compared to all other air purifiers tested in this room.
The Winix 5510 reduced PM2.5 levels from 104.9 to 4.7 µg/m³, while the Levoit Vital 200S lowered PM2.5 from 106 to 4.1 µg/m³.
All in all, the conclusion is clear: both devices achieved outstanding results in the airborne particle removal test.
Smoke Box Test – Comparison
In addition to the airborne particle removal test, we also evaluated these two models in our smoke test.
We placed each device in a glass box, filled it with smoke, then turned them on at maximum speed and measured how long it took to clear the smoke completely.

Surprisingly, the Levoit outperformed the Winix—it cleared the smoke in just 15 seconds, while the Winix took 20 seconds.
Honestly, I expected the results in this test to be nearly identical, especially since both models have very similar CADR ratings and use pellet-based activated carbon filters.
However, the Levoit Vital 200S ultimately came out ahead in this test.
Noise Level Test – Comparison
When it comes to the noise test, the first thing worth highlighting is that both models have five fan speeds and include auto mode.
We measured noise levels at all speeds using a specialized noise meter, and the results were very similar.
At the lowest speed, the Winix 5510 produced 40.2 dBA, while the Levoit Vital 200S measured slightly higher at 41.0 dBA.
Noise Levels - Comparison
Comparison of noise levels at all fan speeds between the Winix 5510 and Levoit Vital 200S air purifiers.
However, at maximum speed, the roles were reversed, the Levoit Vital 200S recorded 62.2 dBA, whereas the Winix 5510 reached 65.7 dBA.
| Fan Speed | Winix 5510 (dBA) | Levoit Vital 200S (dBA) |
|---|---|---|
| Sleep Mode | 40.2 dBA | 41 dBA |
| Speed 1 (Low) | 41.5 dBA | 44.4 dBA |
| Speed 2 (Medium) | 43.2 dBA | 45.7 dBA |
| Speed 3 (High) | 52.7 dBA | 57.9 dBA |
| Speed 4 (Turbo) | 65.7 dBA | 62.2 dBA |
Overall, while the Winix 5510 is slightly louder at maximum speed, it’s quieter on all other settings, which is why I rated it slightly higher in this test. In real-world use, the difference is almost unnoticeable.
Operating Costs – Comparison
When it comes to operating costs, the first factor to compare is power consumption. The Winix 5510 uses a 65W motor, while the Levoit Vital 200S is equipped with a 50W motor.
We measured power usage at all speeds. If you were to run both models at maximum speed, 24 hours a day, for an entire month, your electricity bill would increase by approximately $4.22 for the Levoit and about $4.68 for the Winix.
Monthly Power Consumption Cost - Comparison
Comparison of monthly power consumption costs for the Winix 5510 and Levoit Vital 200S air purifiers at all fan speeds.
In addition to electricity costs, there’s also the cost of replacement filters, which need to be replaced about once per year for both models.
| Fan Speed | Winix 5510 (W + $/month) | Levoit Vital 200S (W + $/month) |
|---|---|---|
| Standby | 1.1W ($0.01) | 1.4W ($0.12) |
| Sleep Mode | 3.7W ($0.32) | 3.5W ($0.3) |
| Speed 1 (Low) | 4.1W ($0.36) | 5.8W ($0.5) |
| Speed 2 (Medium) | 7.2W ($0.63) | 7.9W ($0.69) |
| Speed 3 (High) | 16.3W ($1.43) | 26.3W ($2.3) |
| Speed 4 (Turbo) | 53.4W ($4.68) | 48.2W ($4.22) |
Because of this, power consumption plays a decisive role in this test, and that’s why the Levoit Vital 200S is slightly more cost-effective to maintain annually than the Winix.

Thank you for the reviews, did use the Amazon link to get a 5510. Found a levoit vital 200s on FB marketplace brand new for 130. So I have both and they are great.
Thanks for commenting! Yes, both these air purifiers are truly outstanding.
