Levoit Vital 200S Vs IQAir HealthPro Plus – Comparison!

Could the Levoit Vital 200S beat one of the best air purifiers ever, the IQAir HealthPro Plus? Find out in this review!

The IQAir HealthPro Plus is one of the best air purifiers I have ever tried, but the Levoit Vital 200S is the one I recommend most often.

The question is, which one of these two high-end devices is the better buy?

The Levoit Vital 200S has a CADR of 245 CFM (416 m³/h), meaning it covers rooms of up to 380 sq. ft. (35 m²).

On the other hand, the IQAir HealthPro Plus has a CADR of 260 CFM (440 mÂł/h), meaning it’s ideal for rooms of up to 406 sq. ft. (37.7 m²).

Both devices use high-quality filtration technology, but only the IQAir has an H13 HEPA filter, and it also has a much better carbon filter, which contains, I would say, a few times more carbon pellets than the Levoit.

Our Verdict

In general, the IQAir HealthPro Plus is a medical-grade air purifier that has filter efficiency suitable even for use in hospitals.

However, it’s overpriced, uses expensive filters, is expensive to operate, and is too noisy.

All these are the reasons I believe that, for most people and for most households, the Levoit Vital 200S is a more suitable option.

Only in certain circumstances (highly polluted areas with high levels of smoke, VOCs, or bad odors, or in places where there are medical conditions), I would consider getting the IQAir instead, no matter the price.

Performance Test – Comparison

We tested these two air purifiers’ airborne particle removal performance using the Temtop laser particle meter.

We put them in a 320 sq. ft. (30 m²) room, left them working at their maximum speed for 60 minutes, and measured air quality values: PM2.5, PM10, Particles, and AQI.

The results: both air purifiers improved air quality by an incredibly high 96%.

Particle Removal Tests - Comparison

We placed the Levoit Vital 200S and IQAir HealthPro Plus in two separate tests and measured their performance using the Temtop laser particle meter.

However, you should know that the IQAir uses a much better particle filter, which is HEPA H13 grade, meaning it will capture much smaller particles than the Levoit.

But, for most households, the Levoit Vital 200S will be absolutely enough.

I would conclude that the IQAir HealthPro Plus is a more efficient air purifier, even though it produced identical results in our tests. The HEPA H13 filter is what decided the winner.

Noise Level Test – Comparison

The Levoit Vital 200S has five fan speeds, while the IQAir has six.

We measured their noise level at each fan speed using a specialized noise measurement tool.

At the lowest speed (sleep mode), the Levoit Vital 200S produces a sound of 41.0 dBA, while the IQAir HealthPro Plus produces 40.7 dBA at its lowest speed.

However, at the maximum speed, the situation is slightly different. The Levoit produces a sound of 62.2 dBA, while the IQAir produces a sound of 64.3 dBA.

Noise Level Comparison

Comparing the Levoit Vital 200S and IQAir HealthPro Plus noise levels at minimum and maximum speeds.

Although the difference in noise produced isn’t too large, the IQAir produces some strange and annoying noise when working, especially at maximum speeds, so even though the data shows it isn’t the loudest air purifier ever, I think it could be better optimized.

I would say that the Levoit Vital 200S is better optimized for noise.

P.S. The IQAir HealthPro Plus was released more than 30 years ago, so we actually compared a 30-year difference in technology.

Operating Costs – Comparison

As for power use, the Levoit Vital 200S uses a motor of just 50W.

On the other hand, the IQAir HealthPro Plus is the largest power consumer among all air purifiers I tested, with a motor power of an incredibly high 215W.

If you were to use these two air purifiers 24 hours a day for one month at maximum speed, your electric power bill would increase by about $12.83 in the case of the IQAir HealthPro Plus, and by about $4.22 in the case of the Levoit Vital 200S.

Power Usage Comparison

Comparing the Levoit Vital 200S and IQAir HealthPro Plus power use at minimum and maximum speeds.

Besides, there is also a cost of replacement filters, which need to be replaced approximately every 12 months in the case of the Levoit, and every 3-4 years in the case of the IQAir.

Considering their power use, filter longevity, and price of the filters, I would conclude that the Levoit Vital 200S is more affordable for annual maintenance.
