In this comparison, I’ll take a detailed look at the Coway AP-1512HH and the Mila air purifier to determine which one is the better buying option.
Both models have some interesting characteristics, smart features, and delivered very good results in our airborne particle removal tests.
However, they are not identical; there are a few huge differences that determine the winner.

Overall, the Coway AP-1512HH performed better in our airborne particle removal tests, is more affordable to maintain, and features a better-optimized motor for quieter operation.
For these reasons, I pick the Coway as the better buying option and the winner of this comparison.

Performance Test – Comparison
Given that these two devices cover almost identical room sizes, we tested them in a 320 sq. ft. (30 m²) room.
During the test, we let both run at their maximum speeds for 60 minutes and measured air quality improvements using a Temtop laser particle meter.
Particle Removal Tests - Comparison
We placed the Coway AP-1512HH and Mila in two separate tests and measured their performance using the Temtop laser particle meter.
The Coway AP-1512HH improved the air quality by 96%, while the Mila achieved a 92% improvement.
These results confirm that the Coway AP-1512HH performs slightly better in our airborne particle removal tests.
Smoke Box Test – Comparison
We placed both devices in our smoke test and measured how quickly they could remove all the smoke from a glass box.
Despite having a slightly lower CADR, the Coway AP-1512HH cleared the smoke faster, taking just 18 seconds.

The Mila air purifier, on the other hand, needed 20 seconds to completely remove the smoke.
However, it’s worth noting that the Mila offers an optional upgraded filter with a significantly higher amount of carbon pellets. With that filter installed, I believe the Mila would likely be more effective than the Coway at neutralizing smoke and odors.
Noise Level Test – Comparison
The Mila is one of the few air purifiers we’ve tested that comes with 10 or more fan speeds.
On the other hand, the Coway AP-1512HH has just 3 fan speeds.
However, despite having so many speed options, the Mila could still be better optimized when it comes to noise.
At the lowest speed, the Mila produces 43.2 dBA, while the Coway AP-1512HH measures 41.4 dBA.

At maximum speed, the difference is even more noticeable: the Mila reaches 73.5 dBA, whereas the Coway AP-1512HH tops out at 63.5 dBA.
Taking all fan speeds into account, I would say that the Coway AP-1512HH is overall better optimized for noise.
Operating Costs – Comparison
To be frank, these two air purifiers are among the highest power consumers of all the models we’ve tested.
The Mila uses an 88W motor, while the Coway AP-1512HH uses a 77W motor.
If you were to run both air purifiers at maximum speed, 24 hours a day for an entire month, your electricity bill would increase by about $6.61 for the Mila and about $6.05 for the Coway AP-1512HH.
