Today, I placed the Coway Airmega 50 and GoveeLife Mini side by side, comparing their performance, noise, and power use.
On one side, we have Coway, one of the few air purifiers in this price range with a built-in air quality sensor, and on the other, we have the GoveeLife Mini, which works with a top-notch smart app.
Both devices have a very small filter and a very low CADR. The Coway Airmega 50 has a CADR of 66.7 CFM (113.3 mÂł/h), while the GoveeLife Mini has a CADR of 50 CFM (85 mÂł/h).
However, the differences in performance and test results are enormous, and one of these two models came out as the absolute winner.
Our Verdict

After thoroughly comparing all the test results and specifications of these two devices, my conclusion is that the Coway Airmega 50 is a better air purifier than the GoveeLife Mini.
Coway performed better in all tests, has some interesting smart features, and I think it generally offers much more than GoveeLife.

Performance Test – Comparison
Since these two air purifiers cover rooms of similar dimensions, we tested their airborne particle removal performance in two rooms of identical dimensions.
This made it much easier to compare the performance and reach a final conclusion for this comparison.
Particle Removal Tests - Comparison
We placed the Coway Airmega 50 and GoveeLife Mini in two separate tests and measured their performance using the Temtop laser particle meter.
In the first test, in a room of 120 sq. ft. (11 m²), the GoveeLife Mini improved air quality by about 87%, while the Coway Airmega 50 improved air quality by about 92%.
In the second test, this time in a room of 194 sq. ft. (18 m²), which is slightly larger than the recommended dimensions, the Coway Airmega 50 improved air quality by about 90%, while the GoveeLife Mini improved air quality by about 77%.
Overall, I think the difference here is more than obvious and that the Coway Airmega 50 is much more efficient than the GoveeLife Mini air purifier.
Noise Level Test – Comparison
When it comes to noise levels, the first thing we can notice is that the Coway Airmega 50 has four, while the GoveeLife Mini has three fan speeds. In addition, Coway also has an auto mode feature.
Using a specialized noise measuring tool, we measured the noise at all speeds and compared the results.

At the lowest speed, the Coway Airmega 50 produces a sound level of 40 dBA, while the GoveeLife Mini produces a sound level of 40.1 dBA.
Although the difference at the lowest speed is almost unnoticeable, at the maximum speed things are somewhat different.
The Coway Airmega 50 produces a sound level of 57.1 dBA, while the GoveeLife Mini produces a sound level of 56.5 dBA.

Although the Coway Airmega is slightly louder at max speed, it should be kept in mind that it has a higher CADR, so if we also add that it has more fan speeds, we can conclude that the Coway Airmega 50 is better optimized for noise than the GoveeLife Mini.
Operating Costs – Comparison
I must say that when it comes to power use, the situation is somewhat different from the previous tests and slightly favors the GoveeLife Mini air purifier.
The reason is that GoveeLife uses a better-optimized motor of just 8W. On the other hand, the Coway Airmega 50 uses a 14W motor.

If you were to use these two devices at max speed, 24 hours a day, over a period of one month, your electricity bill would increase by $1.01 in the case of Coway, and by about $0.65 in the case of the GoveeLife air purifier.

What I would hold against Coway is the higher price of replacement filters, which, combined with its slightly higher power consumption, makes it more expensive to maintain on an annual basis than the GoveeLife Mini.
