Blueair 311i Max Vs Levoit EverestAir – Which Wins?

Can the Blueair 311i Max compete with one of Levoit’s most powerful air purifiers, the EverestAir? Find out in this article.

This time, I will test and thoroughly compare the Levoit EverestAir and the Blueair 311i Max.

These are two premium air purifiers with interesting features and very good performance in our tests. However, the Levoit EverestAir has a CADR of 360 CFM (612 m³/h), while the Blueair 311i Max is slightly weaker, with a CADR of 250 CFM (425 m³/h).

Both devices offer many advanced smart features. The Levoit uses mechanical three-stage filtration technology, while the Blueair, in addition to three-stage filtration, also includes a built-in ionizer.

I think the differences in this comparison are more or less clear. The Levoit EverestAir is much more powerful, more efficient, and overall a better air purifier than the Blueair 311i Max.

The Levoit has a better-optimized motor for noise, a more advanced smart app, and better pre-filter and carbon filter performance, and it doesn’t produce ozone. On top of that, it achieved better results in performance tests, all of which are strong reasons to declare it the better buying option.

Performance Test – Comparison

Although the Blueair 311i Max is somewhat weaker than the Levoit and has a lower CADR, we tested both devices in a 560 sq. ft. (52 m²) room.

After 60 minutes of operation at maximum speed, the Blueair 311i Max improved air quality by 89%, while the Levoit EverestAir improved it by 96%. This is a significant difference and a clear indicator of how much more powerful and efficient the Levoit EverestAir is.

Particle Removal Tests - Comparison

We placed the Blueair 311i Max and Levoit EverestAir in two separate tests and measured their performance using the Temtop laser particle meter.

Not only did the Levoit show better performance in the airborne particle removal test, but it also performed much better in the odor removal test, which I’m sure is due to its much higher-quality carbon filter.

Overall, it’s easy to conclude that the Levoit EverestAir is more efficient and achieved better results in performance tests than the Blueair 311i Max.

Noise Level Test – Comparison

When it comes to fan speeds, this is another area where the Levoit EverestAir is better optimized. It has five fan speeds, while the Blueair 311i Max has four.

Noise Levels - Comparison

Comparison of noise levels at all fan speeds between the Blueair 311i Max and Levoit EverestAir air purifiers.

We tested noise levels at all fan speeds using a specialized noise measurement tool. At the lowest speed, the Levoit EverestAir produces 40.1 dBA, while the Blueair 311i Max produces 40.2 dBA.

At maximum speed, the situation is quite different. The Levoit EverestAir produces 63.2 dBA, while the Blueair 311i Max is slightly quieter at 59.5 dBA. However, the Blueair produces a somewhat unusual noise at maximum speed, similar to an irritating buzzing sound.

Fan Speed Levoit EverestAir (dBA)Blueair 311i Max (dBA)
Sleep Mode40.1 dBA40.2 dBA
Speed 1 (Low)41.2 dBA42.5 dBA
Speed 2 (Medium)46.5 dBA48.9 dBA
Speed 3 (High)53.3 dBA59.5 dBA
Speed 4 (Turbo)63.2 dBA-

Because of this, even though it’s slightly quieter than the Levoit at top speed, I would say the Levoit has a better-optimized motor and is generally better optimized for noise than the Blueair.

Operating Costs – Comparison

When it comes to power consumption, the Levoit can’t really compare to the Blueair, which uses a motor of just 30W. The Levoit EverestAir uses a much larger 70W motor.

If you were to run both devices at maximum speed, 24 hours a day for one month, your electricity bill would increase by about $5.34 with the Levoit and about $2.42 with the Blueair.

Monthly Power Consumption Cost - Comparison

Comparison of monthly power consumption costs for the Blueair 311i Max and Levoit EverestAir air purifiers at all fan speeds.

In addition to this, there is also the cost of replacement filters. Although they need to be replaced a bit more frequently in Blueair’s case, they are still more affordable in the long run.

Fan Speed Levoit EverestAir (W + $/month)Blueair 311i Max (W + $/month)
Standby1.6W ($0.14)0.4W ($0.04)
Sleep Mode4.8W ($0.42)3.3W ($0.29)
Speed 1 (Low)9.3W ($0.82)4.8W ($0.42)
Speed 2 (Medium)13.9W ($1.22)12.7W ($1.11)
Speed 3 (High)23W ($2.02)27.6W ($2.42)
Speed 4 (Turbo)60.9W ($5.34)-

All of these are reasons for me to rate the Blueair 311i Max as a better-optimized air purifier for maintenance than the Levoit EverestAir.
