Blueair 311i Max Vs Levoit Core 600S – Hands-on Comparison!

If you're deciding on large air purifiers, you should check out the comparison between the Levoit Core 600S and the Blueair 311i Max.

It’s time to compare the performance, specifications, and test results of two large air purifiers: the Levoit Core 600S and the Blueair 311i Max.

The Levoit Core 600S is a much larger air purifier, and until I test the Blueair 211i Max, which is the true equivalent of the Core 600S, let me compare it with the 311i Max.

The Levoit Core 600S has a CADR of 410 CFM (697 m³/h), meaning it’s ideal for spaces up to 635 sq. ft. (59 m²).

On the other hand, the Blueair 311i Max has a CADR of 250 CFM (425 m³/h) and covers rooms up to 387 sq. ft. (36 m²).

Both models offer plenty of smart features. My favorites are the air quality sensor, auto mode, and smart app functionality.

Overall, these are two outstanding air purifiers, and whichever you choose, you won’t go wrong.

However, I would give a slight edge to the Levoit Core 600S. It has a higher CADR, uses longer-lasting filters, offers plenty of third-party filter options, and showed slightly better performance in our airborne particle removal tests.

Performance Test – Comparison

I already mentioned that the Levoit Core 600S has a higher CADR, which also means larger room coverage and better performance in bigger spaces.

To demonstrate this, I tested both air purifiers in a 560 sq. ft. (52 m²) room. After just 60 minutes at maximum speed, the Blueair 311i Max improved air quality by 89%, while the Levoit Core 600S achieved a 96% improvement. The difference is clearly noticeable.

Particle Removal Tests - Comparison

We placed the Blueair 311i Max and Levoit Core 600S in two separate tests and measured their performance using the Temtop laser particle meter.

However, as shown in the chart, the Blueair 311i Max improved air quality by 96% in a 320 sq. ft. (30 m²) room, which closely matches its recommended coverage.

Overall, the decision is straightforward: the Levoit Core 600S is significantly more powerful and more efficient in large rooms than the Blueair 311i Max.

Noise Level Test – Comparison

As for noise, the results are the opposite of the performance test. The larger motor and higher CADR contribute to louder noise at maximum speed.

The Levoit Core 600S produces 68.5 dBA at maximum speed, while the Blueair 311i Max produces 59.5 dBA.

Noise Levels - Comparison

Comparison of noise levels at all fan speeds between the Blueair 311i Max and Levoit Core 600S air purifiers.

The situation is similar at the lowest speed as well. The Levoit Core 600S produces 43.9 dBA, while the Blueair 311i Max produces 40.2 dBA.

One more thing worth noting is that the Levoit offers five fan speeds, whereas the Blueair offers four.

Fan Speed Blueair 311i Max (dBA)Levoit Core 600S (dBA)
Sleep Mode40.2 dBA43.9 dBA
Speed 1 (Low)42.5 dBA46.8 dBA
Speed 2 (Medium)48.9 dBA51.2 dBA
Speed 3 (High)59.5 dBA58.7 dBA
Speed 4 (Turbo)-68.5 dBA

Although the Blueair produces some unusual noise at maximum speed, I still rated it better than the Levoit, primarily due to the significantly louder noise the Levoit generates at its highest setting.

Operating Costs – Comparison

Regarding power consumption, I must say I’m truly surprised by how efficient these two air purifiers are.

The Levoit Core 600S uses a 49W motor, while the Blueair 311i Max uses an even smaller 30W motor.

Monthly Power Consumption Cost - Comparison

Comparison of monthly power consumption costs for the Blueair 311i Max and Levoit Core 600S air purifiers at all fan speeds.

If you were to run both air purifiers at maximum speed, 24 hours a day for one month, your electricity bill would increase by approximately $4.22 for the Levoit and about $2.42 for the Blueair.

However, beyond power use costs, there is also the cost of replacement filters. The Blueair filter typically needs to be replaced every 6–9 months, while the Levoit filter lasts roughly one year.

Fan Speed Blueair 311i Max (W + $/month)Levoit Core 600S (W + $/month)
Standby0.4W ($0.04)1.2W ($0.1)
Sleep Mode3.3W ($0.29)4.1W ($0.35)
Speed 1 (Low)4.8W ($0.42)7.3W ($0.63)
Speed 2 (Medium)12.7W ($1.11)10.9W ($0.95)
Speed 3 (High)27.6W ($2.42)20.4W ($1.78)
Speed 4 (Turbo)- 48.2W ($4.22)

Taking all factors into account, including filter price, filter longevity, CADR-to-power ratio, and overall power consumption, I would say the Levoit Core 600S is slightly better optimized for long-term maintenance.
