Performance Test – Comparison

We tested the airborne particle removal performance of both air purifiers in predefined rooms using a Temtop laser particle meter.

Although we performed several tests, I believe the one performed in a 194 sq. ft. (18 m²) room is the most relevant for this comparison.

Particle Removal Tests - Comparison

We placed the Afloia Kilo and Levoit Core 300 in two separate tests and measured their performance using the Temtop laser particle meter.

In a room of that size, running at maximum speed for 60 minutes, the Afloia Kilo improved air quality by 87%, while the Levoit Core 300 improved it by 93%.

The results are clear: the Levoit Core 300 is noticeably more efficient than the Afloia Kilo.

Noise Level Test – Comparison

When it comes to noise, the first thing I did was test both air purifiers at all available speeds and compare their results side by side.

The Levoit has four fan speeds—one more than the Afloia—which already gives it a slight advantage.

Noise Levels - Comparison

Comparison of noise levels at all fan speeds between the Afloia Kilo and Levoit Core 300 air purifiers.

At the lowest speed, the Levoit Core 300 produces 40.7 dBA, while the Afloia Kilo produces 43.1 dBA.

At maximum speed, the results remain close: the Levoit Core 300 reaches 64.9 dBA, and the Afloia Kilo reaches 65.6 dBA.

Fan Speed Afloia Kilo (dBA)Levoit Core 300 (dBA)
Sleep Mode43.1 dBA40.7 dBA
Speed 1 (Low)47.9 dBA46.4 dBA
Speed 2 (Medium)65.6 dBA52.9 dBA
Speed 3 (High)-64.9 dBA

Although their maximum noise levels are nearly identical, the Levoit delivers roughly twice the CADR while producing similar noise. This makes the Levoit Core 300 far better optimized in terms of noise-to-performance ratio.

Operating Costs – Comparison

At first glance, you might think the Afloia Kilo is more efficient and performs better in this test. However, a deeper look shows that things aren’t quite as they seem.

The Levoit Core 300 uses a 45W motor, while the Afloia Kilo runs on a 23W motor.

If you were to use both air purifiers 24 hours a day for an entire month at maximum speed, the Afloia Kilo would cost about $2.24 in electricity, while the Levoit Core 300 would cost about $3.81.

Monthly Power Consumption Cost - Comparison

Comparison of monthly power consumption costs for the Afloia Kilo and Levoit Core 300 air purifiers at all fan speeds.

However, the Levoit delivers a much higher CADR, which means it covers larger rooms and moves significantly more air than the Afloia.

Additionally, the Afloia Kilo’s filters need to be replaced much more frequently, which increases long-term costs.

Fan Speed Afloia Kilo (W + $/month)Levoit Core 300 (W + $/month)
Standby0W ($0)0.8W ($0.07)
Sleep Mode2.3W ($0.2)-
Speed 1 (Low)5.1W ($0.45)29.4W ($2.58)
Speed 2 (Medium)25.6W ($2.24)31.4W ($2.75)
Speed 3 (High)- 43.5W ($3.81)

When you add everything up, it becomes clear that the Levoit Core 300 is more affordable to maintain annually.
